    Bridgestone Potenza RE01R Toast

    All:

I was happily whizzing along Sunrise Highway on the way to the beach this morning when my passenger side rear tire literally let loose. The entire tire tore apart all the way around the inner circumference. Also a big hole in the inner sidewall. I have never seen anything like it. Indeed, by the time I safely puuled to the side of Sunrise Highway, the tire was smoking and untouchable. These tires are only 2 years old. I still have about 50 % tread on the fronts but I was surprised to see that the rears were almost at the tire bars. Very disappointed. Well, I'm in the market for new tires. Suggestions? Will be ordering from Tire Rack for sure.

Continental Extreme DWS for the best bang for your buck.

Seems like a ton of members here run Michelin Pilot Super Sports which don't quite have the same tread life, but are absolutely amazing tires.

I think there was a tire thread around here somewhere, but I would just go with one of those two options. I currently have Conti Extreme DWS and I think they are great tires.

Thanks, I am on Tire rack right now and have it down to the Kumho Ecsta 4Xs or the the Conti Extreme DWSs. I had the Pilots and they are certainly a great tire but they wore out really fast. I'm looking for more of a all year tire that will last more than 25,000 miles. I still can't get over the catastrofic failure of my tire today. I wasn't even going that fast and stressing it.
