I was talking like in this order:

    Tires>>wheel balancing>>alignment.

Alignments aren't always needed, but it's good to do after a fresh set of rubber. Since I doubt anyone really gets 1/year

This 1/yr is news to me. Never heard it anywhere.
Alignments aren't cheap, and think that if the suspension is fine, then one isn't needed.

Can anyone particularly knowledgeable on the subject provide insight? Even if it's not needed, would there be a considerable benefit to alignment after a new set of tires?

If that's the case, I'll be doing alignments every year. 32k is usually the life of a set of performance tires for our cars, as far as I know, and that is my annual mileage.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

    Alignment needed if...

    1. Hitting/running over something warrants it.

    2. After replacing cabs/rsm/fsm.

    That's it.

The techs at BMW say an alignment a year wouldn't hurt anything. (but your pocket)
BUT, the upside to getting an alignment per year is that you can catch anything that got knocked out of spec before you really mess up a set of fronts/rears/both and need new tires.

I've decided that for myself, I'll be getting one at least once every 2 years. OR if I feel something is off. But my schedule may be different than others. I can get BMW alignments for $70

I'm not sure that people are grasping what I'm trying to say lol. Usually when (normal) people get tires done, it's usually recommended to do an alignment as well. Just so your settings aren't all screwed up and you chop away your brand new rubber.

    What I just found:
I think I ruined my steering wheel. Used my suede cleaner w/ an old wash cloth and it was doing alright..wasn't complaining. Just went and checked and I think that the wash cloth I was using was an old one that my mom used for cleaning (smelled like cleaning solution) I guess that smell was bleach, because now I have little dyed parts of my wheel that are coming up as it dries. Oh well, I was planning on getting a wrap from colby wheel this winter/spring anyways..so I'm not really concerned.
