I changed my oil using the Motive Power Extractor. Worked like a charm!
On the bad side, it's time to order a new bleeder screw. Mine is leaking.

It looks like the leak is coming from the screw, though. You can see the lines of coolant coming from the screw and pooling on the top of the expansion tank.
Unless you meant something else?
When you say "from just under 3k on up" do you mean all the way to redline or does it clear up just after 3k? If so you may just need a software update to the latest version. Pretty common issue, especially on ZHPs.
Mine had a miss from about 2800 to 3000 in the higher gears and after trying spark plugs, fuel and air filters and Vanos rebuild without any change I had the software updated at an indy shop and that cured it completely. I also had a new Disa that the dealer installed the day I bought my car.
