Steve,Happy to help... Obviously I've been down that road before.Car computers are just like any other computer... Computer software has bugs, and it's amazing how pulling the plug on anything electrical can solve many problems..
Speaking of BMW53 radios... Our 2004 cars will have an older part #. I replaced mine with the 65126988276 part number a few years ago. It was $200 with the core of my old BM53 radio, which is a great deal. It was a remanufactured unit that had the final software revision on it (radios are not software upgradeable). Basically all the kinks had been worked out, updated etc (There were SIX newer revisions than my 2004 radio). Requires no coding, and is a direct plug and play replacement.
