600hp and 600 torques are easy to get...that is a lot better than my current 500 and 420ish

Long term - if I have mechanically hurt the motor I will assess (right now it is a misfire on cyl2) I am still in the HOPING stage that it is just electrical
but I have promised myself for a long time to go V8 in whatever the next project is
So, if mechanical problem - I will buy a used M54B30 and put the car back together as stage 2+....and start collecting the knowledge needed about LS wiring, the parts, the eng and trans....and go to town...but the V8 has gone from "do it now" to maybe do it in the future (all just this evening)

I want the V8 staccato - the V8 in my truck sounds weird due to the cross-firing design...sounds like a 8cyl version of a viper v10
The design means it doesn't have the typical firing order - so that the engine is always supplying flow to both turbos...instead of pulses of power that a typical v8 would provide....it allows for instant boost and more linear power

I vote S85 stroked out to 5.8L, then you have a real V10 sound![]()
the problem with bmw engines - big money to get decent power - and not likely to get anywhere near 600hp NA

Agreed, but I think certain powerplants are still worth spending the money on. I would love to have something like a S70/2, from my searching it looks to be possible. It won't be anywhere near as cheap as the output you get from a LSx engine, but in certain cars I see the need to build the right engine.
For example...
My buddy and I each have an early 2002. I want to go fully crazy with cams/pistons/carbs and get 170hp. He wants to swap a 200hp VW TDi motor in his. I agree his is cheaper and more fun, but in certain cars I like the fact it's kinda original.
Still would love to see a V8 in your touring if that's the route you're on!
I agree with keeping bmw eng in 2002, e30, e28, etc, etc
