Good work JP. So how about the variation between Dakar & Dakar II? Seems that the II variant was a bit later, but not sure there was really much difference in the two colors.

Generally I think the colors with numbers are reformulations of the paint, not necessarily a real color change. A slight change may occur in shade but its not the point of why they change the name

I generally take all of my BMW wheel spec questions to this wonderfully complete database, the BMW Treff Felgenkatalog. It’s in German, but generally understandable.

It lists a good number of different sizes/specs for the style 37, so your best bet will be to verify exactly what’s stamped on the wheels’ backsides.

I think the guys car might be Dakar, looking at the pics. I'll try and grab a pic one day. I see him once every week or two.

My dad had a Gölf Yellow 2002 with a ti engine swap back in the day.

    The Random E46/ZHP Question Thread

It could also be a non-BMW color

    eg, Imola Yellow

Imola yellow. The cousin to imola red!

Yea GM made the paint for the e46, so maybe it's just some other GM color.

I'll have to ask if I ever see the owner.
