Hey John, since you have a brand new properly installed CCV system this would be a good time to get a baseline vacuum reading. Do you have (or can get access to) a vacuum gage? If so can you get a vacuum reading from the dipstick tube while idling?

I don't. Are you interesting in numbers? I could see if William has one and get them for you if possible.

I think it could benefit all. If we knew what vacuum the crankcase was supposed to have we could more easily monitor the health of the CCV system. Right now mine has about no vacuum at all and I think that's one of the signs of the CCV beginning to go bad.

I have a vacuum gauge but I'm not sure if I have a fitting large enough to go into the dipstick tube.

If someone can link a DIY I can measure the crankcase pressure on my brand new (as of yesterday) CCV.

You just pull the dipstick out and measure the vacuum in the tube with the engine running. To do that you need a vacuum gauge and an adapter to seal the small line coming out of the gauge to the inner diameter of the dipstick tube.
