Colin just sent me this. He ran to Charleston for the long weekend.

Those last couple of pics remind me - I think we have one of the best BMW instrument clusters of all time. Classic looks, clear and legible, simple yet functional. I despise the gray faces in my M5 cluster - there's not enough contrast between the white numbers and gray background, making it difficult to read in daylight in many situations. White-on-black may not be "special" like the gray signifies in M cars, but it sure works better, and looks great too.

Agreed. The fact that the new M cars have white backlighting peeves me, and the LCI F30's now have white backlighting on the climate control and maybe elsewhere. Why is BMW switching from the best (proven) color for the eyes to something that strains the eyes more??

VW has been white for a few years now. I remember when their blue backlighting came out around 2000, and a lot of people ooh'd and aaah'd at the new look. But then I read that blue dials/red needles was horrible ergonomically. I'll stick with my vintage BMW look (did I just call the E46 "vintage"?), thankyouverymuch.
