Looks like I will be tackling this job over the weekend... the electrical part was very easy so now I will be looking at how to get the mounting part perfect so the lights will be level and secure... should be a fun weekend

Can't wait to see the finished product.
Are those the X5 LEDs?

In for the write up/reviews

Since today was a half-way decent day I took the time to change out my HID fogs on the M3 for the new X5 LED fogs I recently got.
The first thing I needed to do was mod the mounting bracket. On the outboard side on both fog lights I had to straighten out the 90 degree bend and make it straight... but before I could do that I had to remove the height adjusting screw in the back...
the tabs on the screw are cheap plastic so I took my time taking this screw off...
Then there are two small phillips retaining screws that screw the bracket onto the fog light housing....take them off too then you can remove the bracket...
You can see in the picture above I had already straightened out the outboard side of this bracket... (left side in the pic)
Then I had to fabricate a tip (temporary - will have a final solution soon) so that the fog light could be secured where a tab usually would go into the bumper... not too hard to make...
Got the passenger's side swapped out first... here's a first look at LED fogs on my M3
Connected the driver's side and will be repeating the process I used to do the passenger's side to mount the driver's side fogs...
Finally finished mounting these LED fogs and I love how clean they look but I will add they need adjusting and the OE trim piece do not fit perfectly on them as the surface of the X5 Fogs are curved. I will have to trim the trim pieces so that they will fit better.
I still have to aim these fog lights since they have height adjustment screws on them... so I will be working on these until they are perfectly mounted.... including the trim pieces... so far they change the look of the car and provide a much cleaner appearanceI like them!
Here's another look at the LED fogs...
They are clean and bright! You can see in the picture above that the inner mount lines up perfectly so you can secure the fog light with the 8mm screw (shown inside the red circle).
Best part is that my LCM no longer flickers the high beam indication on my instrument cluster whenever I turn on these LED fogs.
EDIT: Funny thing about these LED fog lights...
It says above that these fog lights are not compatible with E46 BMWs however I never plugged in details for my M3 (pictured above) for compatibility when I purchased these lights.
They do work and I have not had any issues running with them. The reason they say these lights are not compatible is because you will have to modify the outer mounting bracket in order to get these lights to mount.
These LED fog lights use 20 watts whereas the factory 9006 fog light bulbs use 30 watts so using these LED fog lights won't harm the electrical wiring of the E46.
