Went back and did my oil pan gasket again. I guess I didn't put enough sealant in one of the corners which had a very slow leak. Figured I would go back and address that along with adding Achilies oil pan baffle and oil pump nut.

Not ZHP related, but my lady is a lifelong Mercedes-Benz fan before we met back in 2013. 3 years ago, I finally got her into a Lexus (which she loved). However, we traded her Lexus in for a new 2021 M340i since I got "the homie hookup" from the local dealer. That gave us a fair price for the trade in and sold the M340i to us $500 over cost.

Think I found the issue with my SAP. Pump itself is bad

You going to delete the SAP or replace it?

Actually you're the perfect person to ask. Can I still pass Cali smog with it deleted (hot smog aside)? I was just gonna buy a used pump off a local part out.

Also nice job with the pan! I so regret not putting a baffle in when I did mine.

Honestly, I don't know. If I was going to do this, I would do it properly with the SAP delete kit and DME flash tune which will turn it into an EU DME I believe. Theoretically, that will eliminate the CEL which should help pass smog. But then I read this FAQ and it's not guaranteed: https://www.kasselperformance.com/faq/

It's a toss up and I have a feeling mine will be going out soon (I have that type of luck).

Thanks, I hated going back in there twice but after reading the horror stories for track cars, I figured I would just tackle it.

Yeah, I think with MS43 it would not be so difficult, but MS45.1 seems to be a bit of a toss-up given it was not offered in NA. I'm just gonna stick a used pump in and call it a day.

On another note does anyone know what's up with my alternator connector only having 1 pin in it? I'm hoping maybe Charlie can answer since I think it could be his pic. I came across this thread from a while ago showing the below picture, where the connector only has 1 pin in it:

    Mine is the same:

At first I thought maybe the pin got pushed out, but seeing the above picture leads me to believe it could be normal? Just seems odd given the 2 pins on the alternator itself:

Edit: Answered my own question. For anyone wondering it seems the 1 wire is how it should be. Source

First of all, sick welding on the oil pan baffle. Mine was an absolute disaster. Learned a lot about how much aluminum likes to act as a heat sink.

And no, you will not pass shit with the Kassel tune on MS45. They just make it so the check engine light doesn't come on, but they don't set the monitors as ready or the equipment as N/A:

It sounds like you may be able to completely tune it out though:

Kinda sus how cheap these pumps are, but the seller is reputable and I have eBay buyer's protection. $7.95 each for an OE pump, seller had 2 available. $20 domestic shipping for 1, or $30 for both - so I picked up both so I have a spare to go in, when the first goes bad haha.

Gotta give my welder credit, all it costed me was a Subway sandwhich for lunch.

I think when it comes time that I will also replace it with a used or OE replacement pump as I do not want to deal with CA Emissions...

Yea that's kind of sus. Searching this part through my supplier brought back $233 my cost for an OEM manufactured by Pierburg. Well, it's cheap enough to try it haha.

What is wrong with me... I've already ordered the hitch from UK, but I put in an offer on eBay.de for this bad boy:

Unlike the first one which was for a touring, this one is for a coupe! I was just gonna make the touring one work but now I don't have to worry.

I'll have to stay up another hour or so to cancel my order with PFJones, the status of that order is "processed" so hopefully it hasn't been sent out yet.

I guess I'm a sucker for OE parts - but I have good reason to do so. Hitch cost + shipping for this OE one is ~$170 USD cheaper than the one from PFJones
