I was initially against coilovers just because I didn't want the extra complication but I suppose I should reevaluate my reasoning.

What top mount are you running for camber adjustments?

When I installed my Bilstein coilovers, I installed the Ground Control camber kit. They are shown on post # 173 on my Mystic Adventure project thread on page 18.

Post #974 on page 98 shows the actual install of my coilovers and the setting on my camber kit which I had set to -1 degree as I wanted to have my front tires more square to the pavement.

I have always had coilovers with front camber kit installed on my BMWs but this time around I wanted something much better than the BC Racing coilovers so I went with my Bilstein/Ground Control Camber Kit setup and have no regrets going this route. When it is time to refresh my suspension on my M3 I will be doing the same there.

This was one of the first things I wanted to do when I first purchased the car! A 6 speed trans swap!
I had to drive up to DC to get it done but this is the only person I'd trust to do something like this!


"Lifetime fluid"
I did a AT fluid flush about 50k miles ago with some Febi fluid which worked well for me. Out with the old!


Trans going in. Had about 200k miles on it. Im at ~175k on my car. Not ideal but unfortunately not many options these days.
While we were in there, we went ahead and replaced the clutch and flywheel, refreshed all the shifter bushings and went with the OEM performance short shift kit.


Rear diff bushings were shot and were replaced.


Everything works and looks as if factory. Just have to delete the automatic trans cooler and temp sensor.



I went back and forth over the diff ratio but settled with the stock 3.07. Kept the automatic axles and the finned diff cover.



Car already feels so alive after the VANOS refresh and even more so now with the 6 speed so I’m VERY content with the stock diff for the time being.

I need to work on some of the cosmetics next. Probably a front bumper and the headliner. Will probably redo the headliner, A/B/C pillars and rear deck in alcantara.

It is everything! The 6 speed and the VANOS refresh make this an entirely different car from the one I bought.

Put in the aluminum M dead plate.

After the 6 speed swap, I believe my ZHP is finally worthy!


It doesn’t quite fit with the OEM rubber mats, rubs just slightly on the bottom. I suppose that makes sense since it’s probably thicker.

Another thing, anyone else have a gap along the side of the dead plate assembly? Right beneath the hood latch, I can fit my fingers between the dead plate and carpet

JP your ZHP was always worthy of the ///M dead pedal. It looks right with the ZHP.

I ordered the correct part. Didn’t look to see if they sent me the correct part. I guess I should take it out and verify

Updates: with the 6 speed swap came the mod bug.
Took advantage of the bavsound Black Friday sale and went ahead and impulse purchased a brand new Gruppe M intake from vivid racing. Super excited to try that out!

Unfortunately, the red battery light has been flashing on/off for the past 2 days so I’m probably going to need an alternator soon. Will wait for a new alternator before putting in the intake.

So far my rear Harmon Kardon speakers have been in really decent shape. No tears or dents.
I’ll tackle the fronts another day.

Awesome work on the zhp. Would love to hear your impressions of the Bavsound speakers once fully installed. Also, any idea on that gap from dead pedal panel? Seems weird it'd be that large.
