If it was me, I would pass on it. If it's going to be used as a winter car, there's a chance you might get stuck in snow, and personally haven't had much success in getting unstuck with an automatic. If you're confident that you won't get stuck, then it sounds like a decent buy, though I'm still not getting good vibes about this car.
It's one of those "I've got that feeling" things... it's got a number of issues that the guy seems to "downplay".
