    Definitely not. My car has an oil temp gauge, and it takes me (even in warm weather) at least 5-10 miles of driving before the oil hits operating temp, and the turbo cars run hot!

    In my E46, the temp gauge would be in the middle after a few minutes, even in cold weather, but that does not mean the oil is up to its proper temperature to protect at high RPM. This is why oil temp and/or oil pressure gauges are so important. I forget what the ideal pressure is to tell you it's all up and normal.

    No. I recommend staying less than 3k rpm's until you know oil temp is at NOT.
