I say $ 20k.

I say $ 20k.
Well, Sean said 19k to 20k already. 18k then ?
Mine was the most $$$$ so far then. LOL and it's older too. But I haven't had to do any DIYs on it for the 8 months of having it and nothing seems to be showing any signs of letting go. Just have to do VANOS bulletproofing.
Trevor you're ///M is Gorgeous and well worth the higher price. I paid $17,500 for mine.
True. When I add up smiles per dollar it all averages out to the same as most other ///M prices. What I paid for was low mileage, local, and mint condition with all maintenance up to date.
There's an E46 sedan where I am in Guatemala and they don't like to use it because to them it costs $$$$$ to maintain so it's used on special occasions. Be grateful you have the $$$$ to maintain it as well as to modify it. There aren't very many countries that have those kind of economical resources we enjoy and take for granted every single day.

Congrats and let me know if I can help with the coding stuff as well. Csl tune and a few other things should make the car feel and run better. Lots of reading on the m forum for that stuff.

^ What would a CSL ECU engine tune do with a stock setup or do you need "stuff" to make it work better?
Nice ..... !!!
The tranny part really improved and also the engine did as well when I did it to my coworkers car.

I didn't feel anything in the engine part...LOL. Only the SMG. Maybe you changed much more?
My contact changed SMG firmware for higher RPM launch control, faster more accurate shift and ECU firmware for off-throttle downshift rev-matching. No power increase to the engine though.
How much did that cost? How is it done?
It was a couple hundred bucks to do that and redo all my lighting/key memory/mirror settings. For the SMG part he extracted the firmware, changed some hex code and re-uploaded it. He's done many cars as a side business so I thought I might as well let him do mine since it's just not a simple "flip the switch" modification. We did it all in a parking lot...LOL. My battery was brand new and strong so not sure if that helped in voltage stability.
Dang I totally missed this!
Looks to be in great condition.. Especially that interior :drool
Congrats on the gorgeous ///M :thumbsup

Not bad. I didn't know you're ///M was an SMG also. Thanks for the info.
Thanks! Ya it's my favorite color combo and beings it's still in excellent condition inside and out I just couldn't resist. The PPI came back great, no issues at all. Normal stuff like the fan belt and recommended the fluids being changed etc.
Congrats! That thing is gorgeous.
Very nice, Gary! I'm so jelly :)
Can't wait for my ride in it! :)

You're welcome. Treat your SMG like a manual and it'll be reliable. I always put my 6MT into neutral when I was stopped at red lights and I do the same with SMG. If I feel the SMG engaging the clutch a tad slow because of the setting then I'll make sure not to give it too much throttle until it engages. The computer probably doesn't know what burning out a clutch is.
I'm guessing a lot of SMG and/or clutch components are prematurely worn from drivers who haven't been in full tune to a manual transmission and how it works and how it sounds when it's being stressed.
We need to make sure we help it out as we, true manual drivers, know better than the computer's logic.
It's sure a fun partner to dance with when you lead well. She tried to kill me today (well maybe my right foot's fault) by accelerating faster than I could steer when a car suddenly came into my lane. LOL. It was easy to lift off oversteer with my setup to step the back out to clear the car's rear and then get back on throttle to stabilize. What a way to lose your lunch into your pants and leave them in the dust with ///M power. :eeps I'm still learning her everyday I go out for a rip and so will you!
Good advice Trevor Thanks. It makes sense to drive it like a Manual as you stated. The current owner told me he does the same. The only time its driven in Auto is when his wife drives it. I grew up driving Manuals so I should be able to get the hang of it pretty quick.
Yup! Once you learn how the computer works, you'll be dandy. Everything has a weakness in life, but it's how you exploit its strengths which determine how much you let yourself experience something in a positive manner.
Gary, it will take some adjustment getting used to driving an SMG over 6MT but as Trevor stated, once you get the hang of it... you will appreciate the strengths. I can't stress doing the CSL programming enough for you guys with SMG... :thumbsup
Someday I hope to enjoy driving an SMG ///M.....someday ;)
I've actually never driven a 6MT ZHP or BMW for that matter so maybe it won't be all that difficult to get use to.
Oh good you're still a virgin to BMW Manual Transmissions. LOL. Don't try it or you'll be ruined for life!!!
:thumbsup
Only a few more days of waiting
Ya beings it's still sitting in his garage.
