This idea is making me itchy. I realize that in the photo is an E36. But I've seen it done on E46. Maybe I should find a cheap E36 to drop it in. Wheels turning in my head

Weight should not be an issue. They are very comparable. The LS series are all aluminum. Only steel in it is the crank. The T56 trans is also very light. Only know this from my 01 T/A daysQuote:
