Picked up a new set of rear Hankooks. Looks like I'll get about 15,000 out of this first set, fronts are still good. Hoping the fronts wear out the same time as this rear set. Not quite the mileage I was hoping for out of them but better than some I've seen. They are so much quieter than the Potenzas it came with. Handling isn't quite as quick on the Hankooks due to less stiff sidewalls but I'd take the tradeoff for the quiet ride any day. They still work great and once you get used to them you don't notice the handling difference. $360 shipped from Discount Tire.

^very nice. I've had them on my car for a few thousand miles now. Soft sidewall drives me insane but last weekend, the grip they provided me around a corner was pretty surprising. Of course they were warmed up by then.

I've read that grip diminishes before they reach their wear bars too. And by diminishes I mean... drops off a cliff.

How come so few miles? Do you drive aggressively?
I'd be replacing every 5 months if that was the case for me... lol

Ya, they definitely lose some grip but I wouldn't descibe it as "dropping off a cliff". There's this uphill dogleg shortly after a corner on my way home and I hit it accelerating through 2nd gear that I used to be able to take with DSC on and not even feel it kick in but now I have to turn DSC off to avoid felling the power cut.

Good question, it seems like the 2nd half of their life has gone alot faster then the 1st half. And there is a noticeable difference between the left and right sides. I would say I drive fairly aggressively but there aren't a whole hell of a lot of corners in North Dakota. And Dane's right, I'll swap them out at the wear bars. Plus I'm probably being a little conservative on my estimate of the miles left on them. I'm thinking about swapping the two rears side to side even though they're directional so they are both worn evenly when I take them off. I'll try to get some pics of them next time I have it out.

What do you run for tires and what mileage are you getting BP?

Not really a dig. Just saying If you run them down past spec...you can probably get an additional 10k outta them.

I did that once, unintentionally, so that was unwarranted.

    Barry,
Currently I run Continental DWS tires. The set I had before this was Pirelli PZero Nero all seasons. Those lasted just shy of 31k miles, including daily driving, three tracks days, and a couple of autocrosses. On the street I drive pretty mildly, though for corners I take them as often as traffic allows...

And for the record, they wouldn't have corded if a buddy of mine didn't drift the car at one of the test and tunes!
Not that it's his fault; the tires were completely bald on the insides due to a bad alignment.

Picked up the first of eight Silver Cube trim pieces for my ZHP

I won't be installing them until I have all eight pieces....

Highlighting each part as I get them...

I figure in about 5 months I should have everything....nice winter project...
