Welcome to the Family & congrats on picking up one legendary ZHP! You've had quite the stable (E46 touring, E39M5 )! Re: swapping out your 135Ms: I guarantee the Family can have them gone in seconds if / when you're ready to part with them; people are always looking for sets!

Thanks! I love BMWs and inevitably miss each one after I sell it. I think I'll love the ZHP once I get it sorted out. It's at the shop right now, for a DME reflash, which will hopefully clear up the stutter under throttle while in high gear on the highway, as well as the car's tendency to try to stall when decelerating and coming to a stop. I'm also having the DRLs and auto-lock feature turned off.

I also need to start a project thread soon, as I've made my first changes. The new shift knob already went in but, over the weekend, I swapped out all the amber for clear corners and also replaced the headlight lenses. What a drastic change, especially the headlight lenses. The old ones were pretty chewed up (not surprising given the condition of the paint on the front bumper). And I'm having a full detail performed later this week, in hopes of taking some of the swirl marks out of the paint. After that, it will be time for a photo shoot!

No project thread yet, but I had the reflash done and it was successful! Both problems (stutter under throttle on the hwy while in high gear and RPM drop under deceleration) were solved. The dealership also turned off the DRLs and the autolock but unfortunately also turned off the corner light flash when locking/unlocking and the clown nose. I'll be heading back soon for them to turn those back on.

In another bit of good news, my mechanic tracked down the stereo issues. The alternator whine was due to a bad ground (not enough paint scraped off) and the white noise was coming from the gains on the amp. Evidently they required a multimeter to set effectively and these were not. He set them appropriately and the hiss is gone! Thanks goodness.

Lastly, I finally hooked up with the detailer and he worked some magic on the car yesterday. It looks pretty fantastic. Pics coming soon.

wow awesome color combo! Natural brown leather is gorgeous....

As (my father being) a new owner, congrats. Great bimmers you've had. Me and my father are new to the BMW game, his zhp and my Mini which is only half bimmer. I've always loved bimmers, they really are the ultimate driving machine. The steering feel, the ride quality, the solid-ness, those inline-6's, ahh everything haha...good luck.
