I gave the three bolts on that corner a tiny bit of a turn just to snug them down and will monitor it now. If it continues to leak what are my options?
First off.....ensure it's coming from the VCG. 2nd.....I wouldn't exceed the torque spec on the valve cover...by much for 2 reasons. 1) you could crack your valve cover 2) typically leaks that involve seals, do not get fixed by tightening the fastener. Usually, the seal is pinched, where no tightening will fix.

Just monitor like you are. If the leak returns, I would pop the valve cover, and just replace the VCG. It's fairly quick and fairly inexpensive.

All that said.....if it's coming from your vanos gasket....more is going to be involved.

From what I can tell by looking and feeling for oil i can say with 95% certainty that it's the vcg, I went light in the torque the first time around and only gave it the slightest tighten today. I had 0 leaks for at least 2 weeks. Kinda pissed it came back, the location of the original leak is dry at least.

I had my valves decarbonized and my fuel injectors cleaned. My car feels more perky now.

If you haven't replaced the PCV crankcase valve, it could be clogged/failed and causing pressure build up and blow out your recent VCG replacement in the passenger side rear of the engine. This is what happened to me. I had to replace the PCV, (did all the hoses while I was in there), and then redo the VCG with a new one.

Do you have a DIY link? My original leak was passenger rear of the valve cover, new one is passenger front. It looks worse then it is, iv been checking my oil religiously everyday 5 mins after shutting it down once it's warm. Oil level has moved little if any. I always keep 2 quarts in the truck just in case. I'm glad it's the vcg again and not the ofhg, not looking forward to that going bad

    PCV replacement DIY.
And, fwiw, I never noticed a significant drop in the oil level before replacing the PCV.

What is this PCV valve now? I'm not sure if I've ever heard of this.

Could THIS be adding to my oil consumption?
