I actually prefer to be the leader, I'm always worried about rock chips and knowing what in the road ahead of me. If I'm following I at least do the full 2 seconds of space between me and the car in front of me. My driving conditions allow this. While we were up North I noticed there's not enough room to do this.
I just flow with traffic hanging out in lane 2 and swing over to lane 1 when I need to pass. I just set the cruise at 9 mph over and relax. Meric, you taking notes?

So not reading the ticket that close, other than "voluntary", what was the issue with the ticket? BTW, that's a good kind of ticket, one that's voluntary.![]()
Separately, Marc, what a great story. Glad to hear it wasn't anything. Looking forward to the read. I once plugged in my fans backward on my Triumph TR8 and couldn't figure out why it was overheating until I noticed they were turning in the wrong direction.
And, congrats on paying off your car SC!

yeah, that's me most of the times when going to work at 6am....it's nice when people see me coming up while driving my ZHP and they notice my angel eyes and HID fogs and move over....then they hop right in and go with the flow so to speak.....funny watching them react whenever my radaractive app and Beltronics STi Driver alerts and I maneuver to the right lane and brake to just over the posted speed limit.....they all proceed until they see a police car then you see brake lights all over like a Christmas tree....
They all fall in behind me afterwards until we get to the Newport Bridge....makes me smile![]()
The part that gets me is why would BMW bother to make half the bracket out of stainless and the other out of normal mild steel? Lets see, it's in contact with the exhaust, so it gets hot. It also gets the worst the road grime being low to the ground, and it's not plated. Hmm, not surprisingly it rusts.

I feel like people move over easier when they see an agressive looking vehicle in their rearview mirror. There was a guy up my ass today on the way to school in a new impreza on the 'sort of' back roads to the highway. I drove normally to and on the highway.. and he ended up catching up at our exit. He was weaving a lot though. Gotta make that impreza work!
BUT. Back on topic.
Today I washed, magic eraser'd my trim, opti-sealed the paint + door sills, then finished it with a quick coat of wax. I sure do like the Opti-Seal in that you just put it on and there's no removal like normal sealants/waxes
i let some tech at Meneke do the state inspection today. my car passed, thank goodness. catless headers made me nervous, but the o2 modifier kept the CEL from going off, and the tech didn't know any different![]()
Flushed the X5's brake fluid with ATE Super Blue, checked its brake pads' & discs' thickness, & rotated its wheels (since I had 'em all off). Also found the likely culprit of its washer fluid leak: a 90º hose elbow that I think vibrated loose. Reseated it (along with all of the other hose & pump connections) & will be checking it regularly for the next few days.
Also finished the "inspection" portion of my ZHP's Inspection I; all that's left is ordering & replacing the microfilter. The X5's Inspection II will be next!

Love the way this oil cap looks. Hate that Bimmian knows we'll overpay for a little piece of plastic because we like how it looks.
