    Subbing!

I too, like the original poster, find myself taking pics of my car nearly every day or two...

I haven't been doing that so much lately as she is just SO dirty... Here is the last one I took which happened to be in the middle of my new clutch install...

    Damn Marcus!

I was just talking about clutch jobs with my buddy since my rear main seal is leaking. How much will this DIY cost you? What clutch did you get? OEM?

With RMS it was a little over $1,200 in parts before oil, filter, trans oil, trans seals (input and shifter-selector were leaking on mine) feeding a good friend (a fellow ZHP owner) a few meals and making sure he had plenty of beer. Probably close to $1,500... All OEM stuff...

I thought my RMS was leaking too, and it looked as though it was about to be, but it was actually my input shaft on the trans. My shifter-selector was leaking too, so we went ahead and replaced all 3 seals...

I have to give some credit to my friend that helped. Without him, it would have taken me at least twice as long (if not longer), I would have spent at least another $200 in tools (quality wobble extensions are not cheap!) and I very well could have messed something expensive up (thank goodness for his experience!)...

But yes, I was up under that car nearly every step of the way, and when I took her for a ride after the job was done and she acted and felt like a brand new car again, it was quite satisfying to say the least... Thanks!

How long did that take you?

    Wow, that is awesome.

I would go insane trying to change out my clutch on jack stands!

The Saturday before Christmas it took me about an hour to get the car safely up to 24" off the ground, then the Thursday following about 5 hours pulling the trans out. It was at that point that we realized we didn't have the seals for the trans, so luckily my friend is in good with a local shop, the parts were there the next morning at 10am. Probably 4 more hours that day putting it all back together, and an hour the next day getting her safely down from 24" jack stands...

That time includes running to Auto-zone, grabbing food, drinking a few beers, running to get an air compressor, borrowing some tools, etc too...

Thanks! I'm not sure I'll be able to write up a DIY that easy, it was pretty tough at times, and apparently our cars can vary greatly on some things like the starter bolts. Thank goodness my starter is "threaded" I think we blew an hour just getting it properly aligned on a set pin and the nuts snugged up. It was frustrating at times, but its done! Hopefully she'll last another 118,000 mies with no clutch issues!

It really wasn't too bad up on 24" jack stands. We were able to sit upright in the driveshaft tunnel and look directly at all of the bell housing bolts. Bringing that transmission down on my chest was a little unnerving, I'm no tooth-pick, but no body builder by any means. Heaving it back up in there went easier than expected though...

Thanks for info. So you could have done it in a day. Nice.

Here's one before I left for my trip up to DC (then flying onto Maine to go skiing) in late December. The other is after my brother and I did a quick car wash today.
