This. At the end of the day it's my policy & my car, so I'm ultimately the one who has to deal with it.

My quote from BMW was $1,200, and I know I don't have that much just laying around.

Just found out my deductible is $750 too. Sucks because I was under the impression that it was $500, and I thought that was bad enough!

Can you somehow lower your deductible if you haven't put in a claim?

In Canada, my deductible for comprehensive is $300. Windshields are $100 to replace too!

Dalton. I hope you have talked with your insurance agent. Two years ago i hit a landscaping block in the road and it was covered. I did have to pay deductible, but my rates did NOT go up. The reason they say it that if the object is MOVING its an act of god or unavoidable. like Rob with his deer above, or anything else that is not stationary. Definitely talk to your agent. Sucks to hear. (also, lots of the above are right. many policies will have different deductibles for comprehensive vs collision. Unfortunately at that time mine were both 500. now my comp is $100 or something really low. Good luck.

Well, the other day I realized the phase was backwards on my sub... yeah, Imma idiot.

So now with the two new mid-bass infinitys in the front doors and the sub it sounds incredible. I think that's all I'll be doing to the sound system!

I'll tell you what the right answer is. It's the one YOU come to after objectively weighing all your options.

I kind of doubt one "act of god" type claim would raise your rates, but who's to say you won't have another, possibly larger one in the near future?

IMO you need to know how much it's going to cost for you to get it repaired yourself to make a decision. That would mean checking a glass shop to see if the windows can be polished out, price of a used mirror assembly, and the bodyshop work.

Compare that to the $750 + an insurance claim.

Yep! I need longer studs... Kpro's are 75mm. I'm going to install them on her car when she gets her new wheels.

Thanks for the tip on Vorshlag... their studs were over a $1 per cheaper than Turner. That adds up quick when I'm ordering 20 of 'em
