That bites man. It's a pretty car. IR/IR isn't something you see every day. Does he have receipts for the valve adjustments or any vanos work? Those would concern me most under neglect. Also if it isn't from the coil-overs, check the strut towers and bushings for the front suspension creak. Maybe it will be something simple. If it were rear, my first thought would have been rsms or subframe...
