Car seems to want to crank and start just fine, but in the mornings there tends to be a hesitation before start. Guessing this is an intake cam sensor problem. Probably gonna tackle this quick job. Thanks for the DIY Dane

Besides installing the Orion V2's http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showt...448#post285448

I also repaired my C-Pillar's fabric . I used 3M spray adhesive I got from Joanne Fabrics and it worked great!
    Next is both A-Pillars...

This doesn't mean that Stu (and others) couldn't find a way to hack or reprogram their vehicle to enable those features. But that is over my head, I haven't yet even dug into reprograming my car, I don't know if the "new" BMW's are the same, similar, or completely different.
I was reading about that today and had no idea that wasn't enabled here. That's completely asinine.

But then again, it wouldn't be the first time stupid U.S. laws have prevented the best tech from reaching over here.

It's not the car you drive, it's how you drive it.

I doubt that's possible with our cars. A system like that will require some sort of input that is monitoring the light in front of the cars, and as far as I know, the LCM doesn't receive any input like that. The auto-dimming mirror looks out front and back, but the manual states that front light sensor is merely for helping discern between daylight, headlights, and street lights so that the mirror can dim more accurately. I would not imagine that this information is passed to the LCM.

The hardware is seemingly there, but the programming likely isn't.

This is what I am worried about as well, but I do not have any other fuel pump signs other than a 1/3-second hestitation right before it starts in the morning. From what I have read, this could be more indicative of an intake cam position sensor.

Yes, it is quite disappointing... Great discussion though, none-the-less, and who knows, it might be as simple as re-coding it to "on" from "off." Lets hope so!

Gotcha, yeah, I don't think that would ever work on our cars, but perhaps those with newer BMW's can enable it at some point in the future. But just swapping out HID for LED, so don't see how that wouldn't be possible at some point in the future for our cars.

Just saw some of my C-pillar fabric also fell down. Guess some spray adhesive is in my future.

Last night replaced spring in tensioner spring for lower timing chain. New one was about 1.5mm (maybe 2mm) longer than old one. Can't tell yet if it reduces chain noise. Normally I didn't notice any chain noise, but Sunday night after 2 track days and a 200-mile drive home, the chain or cams were making a clattering racket.
