Gone, but not forgotten: '03 Imola Red 330i ZHP - 6MT
Sure!
It scared me like hell at first.. But I didn't have much to lose. The PO reckoned my car needed a full respray, so I just threw my hands in air and said "Let's do this". It is turning out really nice, still some orange peel but not much and all the defects and scratches are GONE! It is definitely a lot of work but I am very happy with the results. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
Treated her to a classic "Two "Bucket" (plus an extra bucket for the wheels, plus a pressure washer, plus a foam lance, plus my Walmart Turtle Wax car vac to blow out the seams, which does a surprisingly good job) wash. Been a long time since the warm fuzzy "clean Imola" feeling. I think it adds 10 to 12 hp.
Also removed the thumping Harmon Kardon subs and did the "tennis ball mod" to the rear deck, which at first blush, seems remarkably effective in eliminating the dreaded rear deck rattle.
Completely wore out my helper. Now he says I have to mow the lawn by myself

Looks clean but I love my armrest.
Installed my new ignition coil on my 335 that I had overnighted so I could drive to the beautiful NC beaches tomorrow!

My ZHP Build 2004-2014 RIP
I did like the armrest but my elbow kept hitting while I drove so I had it up always.
Plus the bolster can be used as a resting point.
Thanks for the compliments mafia members :-)
Replaced a window regulator on my e90. I ordered the part online ($108 at getBMWparts.com after $10 coupon). Then, I asked a body shop to install it. The labor was $40. Total cost = $148.
I asked for an estimate at two Indies: $300 including labor and parts. So, I saved $152 ... not bad at all for a non-DIY guy.![]()
Fixed my vapor barrier with some painters tape on the seam this morning.
Then I actually fixed it. I've had my door off way too many times now!
Then I washed the car and discovered 2 nice scrapes on the rear bumper that I know I didn't create. Pretty upset about it. I need to find a new place to park at work, clearly.
