Yesterday I finished up the headlight install on the coupe, along with splash guards and under tray. Today I installed the Symbian refurb mirror on my car. They sent me one with the compass (yea!!). Also changed out the sunroof switch trim since I no longer need the Homelink up there since it is on the mirror and also repalced the third brake light trim after the antenna o-ring decided to leak. I put the mirror from my car into the coupe since it was no longer of very much use after the stuff leaked out or whatever it does. Productive day, just wish I could run to the parts store. PS fluid flush needed on the coupe........

    TBH,
I would look on ebay. There are some better looking ones there as the one I have the "1" is scratched off. I also have the gray trim piece that I was going to sell with it. If I remember correctly, make sure you get one with the white numbers as it supports rolling codes. If I don't get any bites selling as a package, then you have first dibs.

Today I ended up having the faulty thermostat and water pump replaced. Best part is that the dealer offered to discount the cost of parts and have me pay the labor.

Bought myself a beater E32, haha.

Its clunky, either needs new half shafts or a drive shaft. i think halfshafts because if I am coasting and put in in neutral the issue is still there, drove on the freeway okay.

Engine and tranny are beautiful, just needs some TLC on the driveline and cosmetics.

I took my ZHP in for a 2 year service/check up (I don't drive it much). Had to pick a new shop because I took it to the dealer a few times and I quickly got tired of their prices and inability to fix things. I found a guy who owns a BMW/Porsche shop here in SF, and him and his wife seem to know their stuff. I got an oil change (he uses something called "total" oil, which is approved for our cars), had my VCG changed ("we don't touch VR gaskets! We put Elring in yours"), and he fixed my e-brake not holding on my hill (house is on a 30 degree incline. Now it holds!). The BMW dealer had 2 chances with this brake thing and they couldn't get it right. One odd thing is he put my tire pressure for 39p front and 46p rear. Seems a bit high. I will lower it back to whats on the door jam this weekend.

Its always nerve-wracking starting a relationship with a new shop. I feel a lot better now as it seems these guys really know what they're talking about.

One (small) niggle is that he left 1 or 2 tiny spots of blue stuff (RTV?) around the VCG at the front of the engine. Most people wouldn't care but I am pretty detail oriented. Can I clean this stuff off myself? if so, how does it come off?
