Went to the dealership this morning for a DME update. Chickened out when the service advisor mentioned that flashing might brick it. Ugh. I need a car (and $1500...) right now much more than something purely elective. Oh well. I think I will just be installing a sprint booster and calling it a day until I can afford to take chances with the car's computer. Shark injector will have to wait.
Also installed the Weisslicht smoked LED side markers!

Yep. The reflash is completely elective and not a part of any other service they're performing on the car. It's a known issue. I believe the official BMW laptop software even yells at the tech that there's a potential for the flashing operation to brick the computer.
Even the Shark Injector warns that something may go south during its reprogramming and you'd have to replace the DME out of your own pocket. Finicky little bugger it seems.

The dealership bricked my DME during the 4k dip update. They replaced it under warranty. It took them a month to get it done. I had a nice 335 for a loaner so I didn't really care
