I imagine those with aftermarket seats would code them off or use some kind of device to fool it... I don't remember.

I've been wanting to remove the seats to properly vacuum under them and clean the carpet (I spilled a Dr. Pepper...)

Also, what are the common oil leaks on these cars? I had to remove the belly pan for a bolt I dropped and noticed the engine had oil on it...

Oil filter and valve cover are easy enough, but I don't wanna mess with an oil pan gasket!

How hard is it to remove the lower steering wheel trim piece for restoration? DIYs or pics? I'm tired of the fingernail marks.

It's not hard, but be advised, it will never look as good as a new one. Once resprayed, it won't match the top button panel. If you do it, I'd recommend you do the button panel as well to match.

Thanks for the insight. This is interesting, because the lower trim on mine is definitely a different color than the top button panel. The lower trim is more of a soft touch matte black, and the top is more of a hard plastic satin or gloss black.

I was thinking of trying a 3M vinyl wrap in either satin or matte black for the lower.

You can't go wrong with a vinyl wrap.
