One time I scraped my wife's old 1997 Mazda. I asked at a body shop and they used some kind of thinner (likely diluted) to remove the white scrape, the car was black. This process removed the shiny gloss, but the car looked fine from a distance. And it was free. GL.
Well, using the abrasive method allows you to remove it since it works with layers. Remove top layer, then the layer under that, etc. Solvents don't care what's there or what they damage. Compound is designed for use on car paint - you're best off with this method as it's safest. Be sure to polish and seal it when you're done, or at the very least, seal.
