Don't even own an impact gun.
I broke mine free (same with the rear shock bolt) by combination of 18” breaker and the pipe extension of my jack handle. Definitely a pain in the caboose.

I made the same mistake of test driving a newer BMW (340i with adaptive suspension and M-sport brakes etc) over the weekend. Almost all aspects blew the E46 out of the water.

i've had good success with a mini 2-jaw puller. also, if you grab the wiper arm just above the base and rock it up and down, that helps break the crud free in the splines.

I still prefer the way older cars drive, it way just funny to see how much more movement the newer headlights have (especially since the X3 used the Bosch E46 projector). More specifically, it allows for single light movement for slight wheel turns.

I've used that 12pt set on everything, including full suspension and brakes on the other 3 wheels.
