i have the S54 with the carbon box and the snorkel on it goes exactly like yours.. down into that little wheel well area BUT i cant fit it because of the bixenon housing and ballast.

I thought i could get away with removing the ballast and moving it to the shocktower like M3s but looking at it again.. i think the M3 headlights are also not as deep as ours... but i havent tried it yet.

    got any pointers?
You should be able to move your ballast on the sedan lights. Many people have done it for clearance on these long tube intakes. I may actually have to rewire mine to get it to fit, as the coupe ballast doesn't have any slack to be moved off of the housing.

Not sure if octane booster alone will suffice, it might need to run a race gas blend

I did this on my sedan six years ago. You'll need to snag the ballast relocation kit from the M3 and extend the connections from the headlight to the ballast.

I replaced my DISA valve. I did the GAS repair on an old genuine BMW unit. It seems to be operating properly.

Below is an out of focus picture of the old aftermarket DISA valve. It's about 2 years old with under 16,000 miles. The o-ring and gaskets seem to be tearing themselves pretty rapidly. After looking online, I think I have a good guess of the manufacturer.

Replacing the o-ring was an option, but I'm not sure I trust the rest of the design of this thing...
