....and the u-joint on the driveshaft is failing. So instead of just the center bearing support, it is a whole new driveshaft...........

Just talked to a guy last night that had the same issue on his M3 -- CSB went bad and it allowed the u-joint to wear out. He got a used driveshaft on ebay for cheap and it fixed it right up.

I would imagine a drive shaft shop would be able to fix and rebalance it at a reasonable cost...

Mechanic quoted $1300 for a new one from BMW. I found Driveshaft Specialists in Texas (http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...0html/BMW.html) who sell re-manufactured driveshafts @ 35% of what BMW is charging for a new one. I'm trying to get a hold of my mechanic to go that route. I just cannot justify a brand new driveshaft from BMW.

    • Power Steering Pump/Hose: Hose is leaking and needs to be replaced
    • Diff fluid service per request.

Overall, not a cheap visit. About $1700 including labor. The good news is that the noise I'm hearing in the rear is not a metal-on-metal. It is the tires rubbing due to the springs finally starting to settle after 40.000mi. Part of me wanted to do the driveshaft myself. That said, no time due to trying to find a new house. The Denver/Colorado market is crazy! :/
The market is completely ridiculous here. We couldn’t afford to buy our house in Park Hill now. We bought 10years ago, right before the recent boom. Got instant equity, but can’t even consider a bigger house in the same neighborhood now. Ridiculous.

I just replace mine with a BMW Factory unit came with CBS and FD from Tri-County BMW $850. The place in Texas was $650 plus shipping I believe. Piece of mind for me was worth the little bit extra cost.
