Did this last night, but finally received my valve spring compressor tool, so I removed all the valves and valvesprings from the head I'm rebuilding. I'm going to try dropping it off at a machine shop today or tomorrow.

I had an '02 TL as well that I bought for my daughter in college. It was a great car until it's demise last year........ Lived with the torque converter bang until 217K miles when the subframe broke - it had completely rusted away - on a pristine rust free car?
Watch to see where your A/C condensate drain runs, turns out the drain drips onto the subframe behind the passenger front wheel and rots the subframe away. Chose not to spend the money to replace the subframe with that mileage and with the transmission knocking on my door

I just let him know. He's had this car for years and hasn't registered or driven it in the road once. It needs a lot of attention (got it from his customer for free). It falls into the time/money bucket that he doesn't have enough of.
Today I dropped off the bottom end to get the cylinders honed. Things are getting real. Just need to order my piston rings and head gasket and have them shipped faster. Been slacking...

Well, the stealership didn’t corner balance my car, so it was well-aligned but the rear tires disappear behind the fender lip, while the fronts had 25-30 mm of space between tire and rim at Öhlins recommended starting heights. Since I have a flat summer tire in my square setup, I switched to my 17” all-seasons for this week—and lowered the fronts by the maximum I could (about 21 mm). The effect on alignment/drive feel was minimal. Next I’ll drop the rear struts and dial in a little more spring preload to even out tire clearance and eliminate the nose-up stance the car has now. I’ll also call Vorshlag—I’m not convinced I have the right spring length in back, given the ride height discrepancy. Otherwise the setup feels really sweet; I haven’t experienced this supple a ride in several years.
Next moves:
1) Install alarm horn.
2) Get alarm and folding mirrors flashed, along with a few other minor tweaks.
3) New summer tires.
4) Put in the bespoke SSK that’s been sitting in my garage.
5) Install new fuel filter, plugs, check injectors—when I mash the accelerator, I get intermittent hesitation combined with a ‘shoosh’-ing sound—guessing the motor’s briefly fuel-starved. Gradual acceleration works without such symptoms.
6) Install new dead pedal (mine just cracked), reinstall trunk trim and Stealthboxes.
7) While I’m working in Chicago, visit the Werkshop (sp?) and discuss rust mitigation, paint restoration, door card refurb, possible rear LSD in 2.93, installing CMP subframe reinforcements, etc.
8) Avin Avant—maybe.
9) Replace RTABs.
10) Heated seats—every RN should have these!
11) Before all of this, go out drinking with some of my nurse girlfriends tomorrow night (I’ll be the sober one).
