Since you have the oil filter housing out I would suggest doing the oil separator system as well. Don't forget to replace the vanos oil line too!

BP just did his and he's coming up tomorrow to help me do mine. Shouldn't be too difficult, just time consuming... Thanks! I'll let you know how it's going

@Derek, thanks for the heads up

I finally got my OFHG replaced although I reused my VANOS line, I did replace all my crush washers. The complete job from start to finish took about 3-3 1/2 hours to complete. It was very messy and I only wish I had access to a garden hose and lots of simple green but did manage to clean a little

Started out by taking out my CAI and electric fan

Then took out the oil filter cap and filter

Disconnected the alternator then took out the bolts securing it.

Alternator removed and I can now see the Oil Filter Housing and all the oily mess

Removing the bolts. They are all different sizes so you have to set them aside in such a manner you will know how to put them back in the proper order...

I was amazed by how flat this gasket was! Here's another angle of the "flattened" OE gasket

New gasket replaced, notice how it sticks out

Old gasket on rag, new one installed

Now to get everything back together...

Even got my alternator polished a bit

All in all not too hard to do...just takes time to remove all the interference. I wish I had a workbench and a shop with adequate lighting to really do this job!

Had a great lunch afterwards and cooling off inside my apartment after doing this job Glad I had BP here to help out!!!

Yeah it's tonnes of fun, right! You get to see all the nitty gritty down in the bay.

Justin, I hear you....that's why I wish I had access to the right facility so that I could really do a good cleaning...unfortunately with environmental its harder to find one around where I live...

anyway... we got to use my iPad as a reference since I had the OFHG DIY loaded there....eventually I will have my Bently manual in pdf format and loaded into my iPad just for that purpose...
