This morning I got my windshield replaced properly. The Safelite tech who came did a fantastic job replacing the glass and pointed out what the issues were with the previous installer. I watched the whole process of glass removal and how all my interior trim parts were removed and then installed after the new glass install. Not once throughout the entire process was my leather dash touched so I am having a hard time just how this asshat installer managed to hack my OE leather dash...
Carlos my Safelite installer showed me the process and I got to give him a hand installing my glass. I enjoyed doing this and watching him work on my Porsche. I will be using Safelite for all my cars going forward.

The windshield replacement fiasco chapter can now be closed... what an ordeal that has been and I now have everything as it should be with my Porsche....

That's great news, Charlie. My ZHP also needs a new windshield. I'll take the car to the dealer for it. GeorgeH used to work over there, and he told me the installer does a quality job.

It is safe to say I can finally close the chapter on this windshield replacement nightmare... going forward Safelite will be doing all my windshield replacements...

My GT2 Sport Chrono Clock came in this afternoon so when I got home this was the very first thing I focused on. It came with a plastic housing so when I took my OE Sport Chrono clock out of each housing and swapped them over. The clock itself was very easy to take out and install since it was plug and play. I never thought about wanting to do this until I saw this type of clock installed in Jon's Porsche. I loved the contrast between the Sport Chrono clock and the Instrument Cluster gauges and decided I wanted to do the same thing. It did not matter how much this clock cost.. but then when I am working on my cars, I don't care too much how much something costs if I want it...
Everything mounted perfectly as expected and I then tested the functionality of the new part and it worked perfectly.

The car is looking great!
My buddy just purchased a Cayenne S so I've had the pleasure of test driving a few plus the Macan. I had never driven a Porsche before so I was extremely happy. I was very impressed with both platforms but give the Macan a higher score simply for the PDK. I can't imagine a manual and how fun it'd be especially in a 911. I'll have to take up a family friend the next time he offers for me to drive one.

My Porsche experience continued this week when I spent this week with very close friends in Florida.
I got to go with them to the Porsche Driving Experience this week and got to experience the new 992 GT3 on Porsche's race track in Atlanta, GA. What an experience!!! It was a lot of fun driving a car of this caliber and realizing this car had so much more to put out.
At first I was apprehensive in pushing this car but as the day progressed and I got to practice on several aspects of driving my confidence grew and I found myself pushing the car harder than I had earlier in the day. Then my instructor took me for a ride along and showed me just how much more this car could take. Impressive is all I could say.
I will be back there again next year[emoji41]

I have begun the process of obtaining everything needed for me to upgrade my current PCM 2.1 system to PCM 3.0 in my Porsche. It is an extensive upgrade but will be OEM which I prefer for this car.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220614/0ac7a29a47214b72ac4cbffb44326dfe.jpg
I have obtained the new head unit, pictured above, and will be sourcing this module, pictured below, next . . .[emoji41]
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220614/57108cbdb1987298d155a263c78b68a7.jpg
Then in July I will source the HVAC
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220614/af7cef3ea601e78f4954ab5a0fb5df2c.jpg
and lastly will source the Bose Stereo Amp that is used on the PCM 3.0 setup as my current Bose Amp won't be compatible once I do this upgrade.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220614/2926976fdbefc90774fcf69cff4e987e.jpg
I will also need to rewrite/repin connectors for the new system so it will be a major update for my Porsche. Then once everything has been done I will have to code everything to my VIN w/ desired options for this car. [emoji41]
The current PCM I have in my Porsche looks like this

I will be focusing my attention towards my Porsche soon and looking to add a fixed wing (pictured below) to my car. Specifically, looking to get the 997 turbo Aerowing as this was an option for the 997 turbo. I liked the GT2 wing but feel having this Aerowing installed is a much more appropriate upgrade for my car. :cool

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52186994875_a3bbc2829b_b.jpg
So I'm planning to make the purchase during the "off season" so that I can get the part then send it off to a good reputable body shop to have this part prepped, primed and painted to perfection before mounting it to my Porsche. When I take my Porsche out next season the car should look perfect :cool

Once I have the new wing installed, I will then source the GT2 side skirts to complete the look ;) It is always awesome when a fellow enthusiast reaches out to you to present an awesome opportunity to buy quality parts :thumbsup

I like that fixed wing a lot, being a little bit wider fits the shape and look of the body better.
Will that throw any codes since the moving wing won’t work or do you just code it out?

There is a module that developers of E-Ram make that takes care of any error codes with the factory wing removed. I will source this module from them [emoji4]

Porsche will be selling an upgrade to the PCM 2.1 system that is currently in my 997.1 and I am very interested in this product. Installing this product provides perfect Porsche integration, adds wired Car Play and bluetooth streaming of audio from cell phone into the car's stereo.
Below is how it will look installed in the 997.1 Porsche. :cool

Instead of retrofitting PCM 3.0 as I was originally planning to do, I decided I will be going this route for my Porsche instead. As part of installing this, the problematic Dension setup I currently have will also be removed.
I'm looking forward to getting this when it comes out and have put myself on the waiting list for when it is available for purchase sometime this Spring [emoji41]

I'm such a fan of how Porsche is releasing something like this to support the older platforms. You do pay $$$ for it but PCCM for 996 and 997 really integrate so seamlessly, would be amazing if something was similarly available for the E46 (I guess the Avant 4 is the closest you can get)

I couldn't agree more! It is a shame there's nothing like PCCM+ for BMW E46 platform. If you want something that is close regarding looking like the stock Navigation screen then the AVIN 4 is the one to get but in my opinion you want to get the absolute best AVIN 4 head unit that is available. I was very fortunate to get one and for how I use my setup, it does everything I need since I prefer having the OBD2 display up so I have other parameters that I can look at at a glance and have the WAZE app on my iPhone so for my purposes everything works perfectly in my ZHP.
I'm hoping once I have PCCM+ installed in my Porsche everything will be perfect, especially bluetooth streaming from my iPhone.

Got the proper tire pressure decals I will need to apply to the driver's side carbon fiber door sill once I have it mounted.
Not looking forward to having to remove the OE door sills but once they are removed and the entire door sill area is cleaned and compounded I can then apply the new carbon fiber door sill to the cleaned surface ensuring good adhesion of the 3M tape. I am planning to do this once I complete necessary maintenance on my ZHP.
My Porsche Aero Wing will be going to the paint/body shop in a few weeks once they can fit my wing in with their schedule. Looking forward to having this part painted so I can mount all the necessary hardware and wiring loom to this part before installing it on my Porsche.

I got these carbon fiber door sills back in April and here it is mid June and I'm just getting started on installing these . . . the weather has not been cooperating so I decided to start working on getting these door sills installed.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52980689537_bac45eb2d3_b.jpg
The OE ones that are on were scratched up and worn so they needed to be replaced. I found a YouTube video of someone removing theirs off their turbo so I watched how they did it. My primary concern was not scratching the paint underneath the taped on door sills. I have found using a heat gun set at high and going over the door sills a few times was more than enough to heat the tape underneath so that I could use the plastic trim remover tool to pry the old door sills enough to get leverage and slowly get them off the car.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52980663507_699d4fcb3a_b.jpg
There was some 3M tape residue as you can see in the picture above so I applied some Goo Gone to allow it to soak into the 3M tape before using a plastic razor tool to slowly remove the tape residue.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52981273281_6114e1b1ca_b.jpg
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52981420874_db81d809c3_b.jpg
It took me several passes using Goo Gone and scraping off the tape before I got all of it off without causing any damage to the paint surface underneath.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52981719483_ff010e2c08_b.jpg
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52981638430_b5d18c5ce7_b.jpg
Now to mark off using painters tape where to place the decal on the carbon fiber door sill once mounted. Since these are full length they will cover where the current decals are located so I will have to remove them so that the door sills will have a good base for the tape to adhere to. I have new decals to place in the same area once the door sills are installed.

I started sourcing new front aluminum radiators for my Porsche to install over the winter months. Since my front passenger radiator started leaking, I decided to replace all three since they all have plastic end pieces. New radiator hoses will also be sourced before I begin my Porsche maintenance...

- Full cooling system overhaul (replacement of all rubber hoses, removal of all plastic hoses from engine block and installing metal pipes and pinning them to the motor, and replacement of front 3 radiators for all aluminum CSF radiators)
- 60,000 mile service
- Plug/Coil replacement
- Fuel filter/pump replacement
- GT2 clutch slave cylinder upgrade
- Stage 2.5 clutch
- all associated o-ring replacement from engine
- Fluid changes: AWD transfer case oil, Engine oil, Transmission oil, Diff oil and brake fluid
- replace low tone horn
- install CANBUS ballasts for Xenon fogs
- install RSS motor mounts
- Install TPC/DSC module
- Properly aim my new Morimoto LED XB 992 style headlights

This morning I got my new Morimoto Bi-LED headlights installed on my Porsche. Hardest part of this install was running the DRL wiring but after thinking things thru a few minutes, was able to figure out the best way to run them and get everything hooked up.
These headlight assemblies are as close to "plug and play" as you get using aftermarket products. Presents better than OEM lighting and looks very clean.

I got a lot done over the past weekend to my Porsche with the installation of the AeroWing and decklid (to be painted GT Silver while car is in the shop), my new Bi-LED Morimoto headlights (to be properly aimed while in the shop) and a list of many other upgrades to include:
- Type 3 Brembo 2-piece rotor upgrades (front/back)
- Rear brake refresh (new pads and brake caliper hardware)
- full cooling system overhaul (new front three aluminum CSF radiators and hoses)
- pinning of cooling pipes to engine block (using aluminum pipes)
- GT2 slave cylinder upgrade
- Stage 2.5 clutch
- full fluid change (engine oil, transmission oil, diff oil, transfer case oil)
- brake fluid flush
- new RSS motor mounts
I still have the following to add once maintenance has been completed:
- Rennline Carbon Fiber intakes for new AeroWing decklid
- Rennline Carbon Fiber intake housing
This weekend I will be upgrading the OE PCM to Porsche Classic PCCM+ system, installing my new TPC/DSC module for my PASM system and finishing the passenger side full carbon fiber door sill installation. Still lots of work to put into my Porsche but this car will also be set up for the rest of the 2024 car season and ready for it's trip to Florida where it will reside this year as well . . .

Today I ordered a set of GT2RS carbon fiber side vent covers to replace my stock turbo ones. These will look so much better contrasting against my GT Silver paint. Part is made in Germany using vacuum dry carbon fiber material and will look amazing when installed :cool

My GT2 lower side skirts arrive tomorrow, and my Porsche will be taken to the Indy shop where I have lots of work planned for it. Car will be in the shop for about a month while all this work will be getting done to it. Over this time I will drop in to see how work is progressing and taking pics of the progress (yes I will be updating this project thread with pictures taken during the maintenance period). Looking forward to seeing my engine pulled off the car with work being done to it. The Aero Wing and rear decklid will also be painted GT Silver to match my car's paint.

I appreciate it! I have waited too long to do this. A lot have happened to me this year which started all this crazy maintenance/upgrades to all my cars this year. Funny how something happens to you in your life which causes you to change priorities. Anyway there is a reason to all this madness and fury regarding maintaining and upgrading all my cars this year . . .
In this case I have put my Porsche away for the past two years because I did not want to exceed the 60k mile mark on my odometer . . . well with recent events happening to me, I came to a conclusion F*** it, not saving my car for anyone anymore or worrying about the resale value due to mileage. I'm going to start enjoying my Porsche for what it is and start driving the heck out of it and mod it to suit my tastes which is what I have started doing. Life is too freaking short and this has everything to do with why I have been so busy setting all my cars up recently.
And . . . you have personally seen my Porsche turbo Ayan ;)

So far in my current maintenance upgrade period, the Brembo Type 3 two-piece rotors (built by Sharkwerks) have been installed with full brake service being performed as soon as the stainless steel brake lines are installed . . .
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53863580299_4db2f0a37e_b.jpg
In the background you can see my motor which has been removed for upgrading as soon as parts arrive . . .

These two-piece rotors look right at home on my Porsche. This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a long time but at $4k per set was what has stopped me until this year . . .
The CSF Aluminum radiators have also been installed because the front passenger radiator started leaking coolant. Since I was replacing one radiator I figured I might as well replace all three front radiator for the aluminum performance ones. The coolant hoses were checked sat so they won't be changed saving me some money there . . .

It sure is . . . I want to make sure all maintenance is up to date on this speed sled and that the cooling system is complete and bulletproof then add plenty of "while you're there" items to complete the maintenance. I did find the GUIBO was seriously cracked all over when I inspected it and my mechanic confirmed it would be replaced. Also found a cracked boot on the front passenger CV joint so I had that replaced as well. :)

My Porsche is nearing the completion of its planned maintenance and upgrade project. A lot of good work have gone into my Porsche recently to get it ready for it’s upcoming road trip to Florida. Along with it’s 60k mile maintenance this car also got the following items done:
- Brembo Type 3 two-piece rotors
- Sharkwerks aluminum cooling pipes to pin to the engine
- Sharkwerks cooling pipe replacement kit for 997.1 turbo engines
- bbi GT2 clutch slave cylinder
- Sharkwerks Stage 2.5 clutch upgrade
- RSS motor mounts
- CSF Aluminum radiators (all three front radiators)
- Morimoto Bi-LED XB headlights
- PCCB+ infotainment upgrade from Porsche Classic
- TPC/DSC PASM module
- cooling system overhaul
- new GUIBO
- new passenger front CV joint
- VTG Actuator cleaning/greasing
- painting of AERO rear deck lid and wing to GT silver
On order from ECS Tunung is my Bilstein Damptronic Coilover kit with a shipping date of 23 Aug to my Porsche mechanic’s shop so I can have this installed just before driving my Porsche to it’s new home

For the 997.1 gen turbos, there is a known issue where the plastic pipes that have been epoxied to the engine backs out over time and causes catastrophic coolant loss as the fitting pops out of the block. That is why companies like Sharkwerks came up with a solution to use aluminum pipes that can either be welded or pinned to the block preventing them from ever coming out of the motor.
For my maintenance, I opted for the pinning of my coolant pipes which is getting done this week.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240809/917df09afa32ded89119cfab73afdcf1.jpg
The pink crap you see on the pipe is the coolant that has been leaking out and dried . . .
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240809/dff9d78616aeb8685fb6078ae5d74f71.jpg
this is what it looks like before the plastic pipes pop out of the motor. I caught mine from coming out just in time. This is serious peace of mind having these plastic cooling pipes replaced for aluminum ones which will then get pinned. I will be able to really enjoy my long road trip home to Florida with my Porsche [emoji57]
My Aero Wing and rear deck have been painted GT Silver to match my car's paint and looks amazing.

I got a 10% discount on this part along with shipping costs being waived because some idiot working parts could not tell the difference between a carbon fiber airbox and a much smaller GT3 style control arm.
Anyway . . . I now have the right part minus mounting hardware (I will reuse my OE airbox hardware if I need to). The missing hardware is supposed to be overnighted to me so we'll see if they arrive on time.

My current Porsche maintenance period is rapidly coming to a close. A lot of work has been put into this car during the past month the car was in the shop getting worked on . . . the summary of work that was done during this maintenance period was a lot but something I have been wanting to get done with my Porsche for quite some time . . .
- Brembo Type 3 two-piece rotor retrofit
- Sharkwerks aluminum cooling pipes to pin to the motor
- Sharkwerks cooling pipe replacement kit for 997.1 turbo
- b.b.i. GT2 clutch slave cylinder upgrade
- Sharkwerks Stage 2.5 clutch upgrade
- engine oil coolers replaced
- new rear main seal
- RSS motor mounts
- CSF Aluminum radiators (all three front radiator replaced)
- Morimoto Bi-LED XB Headlights
- Morimoto DRL wired to fusebox
- PCCM+ infotainment upgrade from Porsche Classic
- full cooling system overhaul
- new GUIBO
- new front passenger CV joint
- VTG Actuator clean and grease
- Auto headlight retrofit
- Full brake service w/ stainless steel brake lines
- engine oil/transmission oil/diff oil/transfer case oil/brake fluid flush
- 7mm/15mm spacers screwed onto rotor seating surfaces
- Bilstein B16 Damptronic (PASM) coilover kit
- TPC/DSC module
- OEM GT2 lower side skirt install
- GT2RS carbon fiber side vent covers
- OEM full carbon fiber door sill install
- Rennline carbon fiber intake ducts for rear decklid
- Rennline carbon fiber airbox
- corner balancing and 4-wheel alignment
- headlight alignment
- turbo badge painted glossy black
- Garmin Dash Cam Mini2 installed
- new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (full set)
- Aero Wing/rear decklid painted GT Silver to match my car
- car safety inspected and re-registered
As you can see . . . this was quite the list to accomplish and it took about a month for the shop to get all of this completed. Hopefully my car will be completed today and I should be able to get my car sometime tomorrow morning after the car has been satisfactorily road tested and safety inspected. I'm looking forward to taking posession of my "upgraded" ride. It should be a dream to drive now . . . not that it wasn't before!

Having CarPlay and touchscreen really adds to the car[emoji41]
For comparison, here's the OE PCM 2.1 head unit my car "had"

I also got my Rennline cell phone charger mount installed so my iPhone will get charged while I am driving. [emoji4]
My car is now ready for it's long distance road trip to my new home [emoji57]

These are a few pictures taken at the completion of my 2024 Porsche project. These pictures show just a fraction of the work that has been put into my car while getting it ready for next week's change of home port so to speak. After next week my Porsche will reside at my new home in Florida where I will be living. [emoji41]
I will be enjoying my road trip in this amazing car! [emoji16]
EDIT: My Porsche has been coded for fixed wing so it is now set for it's upcoming road trip [emoji57] I completed my trip to Florida and my Porsche performed perfectly as expected. What I really enjoyed was how people would move from the left lane as I would come up on them because they could see my 4-point DRLs and the low profile of my Porsche as I approached allowing me to pass them. The car felt so solid and planted throughout the trip and when I got drenched with a severe downpour as I got into Jacksonville, not once did my car hydroplane. I made it to my new home where my Porsche resides inside the garage parked right next to my ZHP. :)

I have put in a lot of work and performance upgrades in the last 6 months to prepare my Porsche for its long road trip to Florida and it was money well spent. For 2025 I will be adding a performance tune from Brentuning, a tuner I personally know. Adding this tune will get me close to the 600hp I am looking for with my Porsche. I know as fast as my Porsche already is, adding this tune will bring it to life. Looking forward to doing this soon.

I finally got my Porsche's window tinted and love the look. I had 70% UV blue Xpel film put on my windshield and 30% UV black Xpel film put on my side and rear window to achieve this look. It is a necessary addition when living in areas where your car has a lot of sun exposure.

Did some detailing work on my Porsche yesterday in preparation for a local car meet I was invited to . . .

as I was detailing the paint surface I could see this car really needed a good detailing and waxing which I was able to provide. Car looked nice for the car meet.

The owner of the shop hosting the local area car meet last night was so impressed by my Porsche that he had me park my car inside next to these beautiful blue exotics. As I was backing my Porsche into my spot, I told one of the owner "here comes a peasant" in comparison to the two exotics I was parked next to. Then to my surprise, this beautifully set up GTR was parked in front of my Porsche. There were lots of beautiful cars at this local car meet. Nice to meet a few local enthusiasts last night.

Peter,
PCCM+ can be purchased thru this link right here:

I have CarPlay on my PCCM+ headunit and the screen is touchscreen. For the 997 this is one of the best interior upgrades. I also highly recommend getting the bi-LED Morimoto XB headlights as they bring the 997 more up to date. The lighting is amazing and I really love the 4-point DRLs these headlight have. :thumbsup

Today I added some black alcantara to a few plastic parts that had been scuffed to clean this area of my door jam and mounted my rear facing camera. Something I have been wanting to do for a long time now . . . today was the perfect day for it.[emoji41]

Perfect day for that, and gardening (for me).
It was. I started my day by pulling out my Porsche and give it a good, much needed, hand washing which then led me to take on two projects that I have sidelined for quite some time for this car so I made use of the nice day and got those projects finished. I have been waiting awhile to get this done and the car looks so much better and also has added functionality with the rear facing camera setup.

My M3 will be the next car getting much needed "car spa" treatment very soon . . .

Passenger side part is not 100% perfect but will pass. Key is making the right sized template then peel off the backing and press on the part. I used my center island in my kitchen to lay the Alcantara wrap on then press on the part to be wrapped and took my time ensuring the complete part was wrapped and looked nice. It is not hard to do and ends up cleaning up the interior look in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing your projects Peter! :thumbsup
