Happily parked at it's new home:

40485

Will be working out insurance and registration this week while I decide on the vanity plate.... unfortunately - I don't think FL will let me have ZHPNESS, but I'm going to try!

Congrats on the car! The license plate sounds hilarious, I hope you can sneak in through unnoticed. :thumbup

In Wisconsin you have to describe what the message means on the personalize plate application form, so I'm curious if it's the same in FL. I'm wondering if you'd be more likely to get it through sucessfully if you explained it as "ZHP (Performance Package) -NESS" or "Z-Happiness"?

I have some thoughts.....

Funny thing is that I've lived in WI, CA, VA, and now FL.....

WI, CA, and VA all denied me starkfu stating it was offensive even though it's been my nickname since 4th grade.......

My alternative is ZHPRFCT

I have a few others I might try for too.

Glad it went to a great new home! What was the total years/mileage under your ownership, Charlie?

So story time.....

Let me start by saying Charlie sold me a well sorted ZHP and the following story has absolutely no negative reflection on him at all, this car just has a history previously unknown and that history led to what I'm about to explain here.

I also hope no one minds I continue this car's story here.

So this car was originally a FL car, it was sold in NJ by Prestige BMW on 7/10/2004. That person then moved to FL a year and 4 months later and registered the car in Jacksonville with 12.5k miles.

This car then spent the next 12 years across 3 owners in Northern FL and Southern GA.

On 3/22/2017 this car was involved in a major accident resulting in total loss and the car being deemed salvage. It sold at a salvage auction and was rebuilt and certified by GA DMV as rebuilt in January 2018.

Owner 4 bought the car and registered it in TN where it spent the next 2 years until it was purchased by Charlie mid 2020 and it made the move up to RI.

Now here is the fun part. I am now the 6th owner, and had I not lived in FL - this most likely would have never come to light.

When I went to FLHSMV (DMV) - and attempted to register the vehicle, it triggered a fraud alert and I was taken to a back room and lightly interrogated about the title. The RI title and subsequently the title from MD prior to that did not have the brand of rebuilt on it. FLHSMV was the entity that marked the salvage title, but was never notified of rebuilt status. In their eyes, I was trying to register a clean title against a salvaged vehicle.

Long story short - When Charlie bought the car, it did not have the brand either, and after resolving this issue with FLHSMV, Charlie, RI DMV, and the District FLHSMV resolving the rebuild certification with GA DMV - we were able to get the car registered and the rebuilt brand restored.

And now this car can continue its journey. I have begun building the list of intended changes / fixes to the car - will do my best to update here as we progress, but it is also currently behind 3 builds we have going on in the shop.

right now I am tied up on a 2006 E46 325Ci for my son to run SCCA SOLO events with. Behind that we have an e39 540i to finish engine work on and to begin building our SPEC E46 from the donor 2001 330Ci we picked up.

Current list of work to be done to BLAUZED - a name I have decided to keep going forward!

Determine custom plate (BLAUZED - ZHPRFCT - ZHPN3SS are the front runners)

address clear coat issue - most likely going to result in some body work / repainting - yet to be seen.

New audio - I am an MECP certified audiophile - did car audio and security for 8 years - not that current audio is necessarily bad, but I am used to a standard most would consider extreme. We will be doing the following:

Alpine Status - 3 way components in front door - coaxial in the rear deck - alpine amps - Kicker Comp VX - single 12" sub.

Will also be doing a double DIN digital media receiver from Alpine as well - ILX-407

When we do this - we will restore the interior pieces that need replacing / regluing.

I intend to put on the lip - rear strut bar - and BBK on the rear from Charlie - clalipers will be done in yellow to match the mystic blue best.

Window tint is a must in FL, so that will be coming too.

Car has already assumed light daily duty for me and I'm very happy with the purchase!

Glad it went to a great new home! What was the total years/mileage under your ownership, Charlie?

As of July 4th 2004 I owned Blauzed for four years and the mileage was 263,726 miles when I sold her to Greg, the new owner. As you can see, there was a story to this car I was unaware of but explains why I had put in so much work getting this ZHP sorted by the time I sold her for a much lower mileage JCW Mini Cooper.

I know Blauzed is in good hands with the new owner and I am looking forward to having my M3 in his shop soon to have the rear subframe reinforced and all bushings replaced. Looking forward to seeing Greg's updates as he continues to carry on in this project thread :thumbsup
