That sounds like it could be something else then. Usually it is just a couple hundred rpm band starting right before 3000 where the miss is.
Not sure about all ZHPs being affected but most I have seen were 2004 model year. I do remember though recently seeing someone somewhere mentioning having the update work on his 2005.
Sounds like you have a good strategy for finding the issue though while taking care of some PM at the same time. If none of that cures it I'd consider getting the update done. Are you getting any codes? Any hidden codes? Mine would occasionally have a hidden 2974 Peake code. Never did, and still haven't, had a CEL on my ZHP.

Nope, unused. I asked the guy why he was getting rid of it. He said when his mom bought a Lincoln, the cover came with it and she said she never used it and gave it to the guy. So he put it on Craigslist for dirt cheap. I <3 Craigslist gems like that.
