Interesting! is the diameter the same? Looks pretty good actually.
Interesting. Easy to install compared to separate pieces? Advantages to this would be.....? Reliability? Less places for leaks to occur? ...?

Much easier to install IMHO. The diameter is the same as far as I can tell, but I didn't take measurements.
The material seems to be much better than the material used on the E46 Intake boots.

neat. I will inspect mine and give this a try if they need to be replaced. have the part number handy?
I swear we should make a thread about "improved" or available/cheaper 1st gen X3 parts that fit the E46. So far I have the HVAC blower motor, seat heating elements, this intake boot, and I am sure plenty of others!

I finally managed to get myself an intake F connector on Monday and install it. Those suckers cost a lot at retail parts!
Also I recently ordered a PA Soft (china knockoff from new egg) and it arrived today at work. I started to install it today on my macbook, but it wasn't exactly working. I kept getting a "Hardware not ready" error. Originally I suspected it might be bad hardware. I was determined to get it to work, and thought the 2005 drivers were a little out of date and might need some updating. After installed 2013 FTDI drivers, it still was not communicating with the car..
I am currently using a Macbook Retina Pro (Haswell) running Parallels 9 using Win 7 X86. NCSexpert/DIS/INPA all work in this fashion but the PA Soft refused to work. BP, do you have any suggestions? I'm not sure if you are using virtual machines for your bmw tools. If you aren't ignore this
After trying for a few hours I decided to bring something back the dead. My 2005 Dell 710M running XP. It has a 30minute battery life with a close to 10-15minute boot. Magically, the software installed without a problem and it worked so it definitely wasn't a hardware problem! I bought PA Soft solely to edit the EEPROM. I finally could get the coolant temp and speedo settings that Terra graciously shared with the interwebs. I have not yet to test the speedometer but others have confirmed it so I am pleased that I was able to edit it. Thanks again Terra!
Hopefully I can solve the driver/possibleOS issue with PA soft and use my macbook without the need of bringing the dinosaur back out again.
On another note, my fiddling with the car without being on a charger, left the battery in a pretty dead state. It had enough to be in position 2 without any issue but it could not start the engine. I suspect the 2009 battery I installed is no longer a good battery. The sleep drain on the car was under 60mA so I don't see the immediate drain from the car sitting there. I will have to give the battery a load test when it is fully charged but I doubt its going to be any good. It might be a good time to update that 5 year OEM battery anyways.
Anyways, thanks for reading the update!![]()
