    The syncro's on those early boxes are extremely fragile

    man I can't even imagine how those caps look from back in the day! What kind of capacitors are they putting in?

    I don't even want to see a pic, but supposedly they weren't too bad looking and didn't mess up the board.

    I don't know what caps they put in, I guess I can ask when he calls me in a few days to tell me it's done

    Well, looks like my E30 water pump/fan idea isn't gonna work. I'll just use the stock fan until I get around to engine swap

    Derek, I asked him today about your question. The stock capacitors were Elna "red sleeve" as he called them. He is replacing them with Panasonic capacitors as supposedly the units of that same time period that had those caps installed have no issues.

    Also, the $300 is not only for replacing the caps but also to rebuild the tape deck.
