    JP's E21 DD

The other nice thing about the M10 is that after 30 years that block is strong as hell. Pretty sure my E30 block is stronger at this point than the early blocks were in '81 when Motorsport began using them to build M12/13s. Considering I won't be throwing 60psi of boost to it I doubt it will need a coating (although the /13 did have sleeves to make it 1.5L, don't remember what they were made of)

Those blocks had over 100k miles on them and they sat out in the weather. The team would also pee on them too! Crazy engine in full qualifying trim. 1000 hp per liter is just nuts.

They actually had 100k+ km. This engine had 200k+ miles and has been sitting out for the past few months at Carl's (2 blocks from the beach) so I think I'll be fine

I will probably ref it as a 95 325i so I can use the OBD1 exhaust manifold so I can keep my cat under the trans. Then later I can find some S50 ITBs and headers.

What are you gonna do with yours, 24v E30?

No 24V for the E30, yet.. hehe. The M20 is a fine work horse, no complaints! If I do 24 valve I will just get a used M50 from an E34 525i and call it a day.

This is going in my E36 M3, if you need S52 cams, let me know. I have spare set of S52 cams and a spare S52 crankshaft. I'm sure we can work a good deal

    24v E30 is overrated, find a 535i donor

Nice about the cams/crank, I'll keep that in mind. Plans may still change by that point, it will still be a while before I get to this swap plan.

    Won't the S52/M54 crank fit in the M20? A 3.0L M20 would be sweet!!

In theory it would, but wouldn't you need to convert the head to chain driven?

It would be easier to convert the crank to turn a timing belt. Chains need guides and extra lubrication.

I think that would be a cool build.

Hmm would be cool, haha. I can rebadge the car as a 335i
