I know someone who has an extra euro headliner to sell. I told him about you and he said he will reach out...
Cool thanks for looking out

06-07-2018, 04:33 PM
It's the opposite. The US has more headroom. Especially in the rear if that even matters to anyone lol The bump is there to clear the bow that is welded which sits lower.
I stand corrected then... so the Euro headliner is cleaner looking from the inside since it does not have that bump....am I right in saying that?

Yep, that's the only reason why I want it. Since I'm not likely to track my car anytime soon. I don't need that extra space for the helmet lol

I'd say don't restrict yourself and get the extra space if you can help it. :)

I got a shirt from the BMW Performance Driving School along with a BMW ball cap and a small bag that has "BMW Performance Driving School" on it delivered in the mail today :)

Better still, you should attend a BMW Performance Driving School. Thrash around new BMW M cars around a track with professional instruction - what's better than that?!

We just did that at the performance center delivery, albeit an abbreviated version. They have a whole store full of performance driving school stuff. We got those same shirts for the kids and Kristen got a pullover and a few other things. Unfortunate for me, I wear the most common size and they were out of everything.
If you ever make it down that way, it's a fun stop and with the BMWCCA Foundation right there too

I started making room in my M3's garage so I will be getting ready to start working on my car soon... once the front bumper comes off, I'm looking at doing several things while in the garage...
- Engine oil change
- 10W60 Liqui Moly LM2024 (FCP Euro)
- crush washer (FCP Euro)
- Oil Filter (FCP Euro)
- cooling system refresh
- water pump (FCP Euro)
- thermostat (FCP Euro)
- expansion tank (FCP Euro)
- hoses (FCP Euro)
- radiator (FCP Euro)
- sensors (FCP Euro)
- Vert front radiator support retrofit
- VIS Racing Carbon Fiber XTS Style Hood retrofit
I just need to get a few things on order before I begin the work..... soon.... (there may be more cleaning involved - most likely)...

The difference between the coupe front radiator support and the vert front radiator support is shown in the picture above....
The vert support is reinforced by the "X" pattern all along the support brace whereas the coupe is hollow. This "X" pattern provides for a much stronger rigid support for the front end of the car... and that is why I am going with this part :roundel

In my garage I have a daily driver in my ZHP and that's the ideal roll for this car. I had a garage queen in my M3 until I got my Porsche a few years ago....my Porsche is now my garage queen of sorts...
That leaves my M3 which until this past weekend, thanks to Botond.... has caused me to reconsider what I will be using my M3 for...
I have access to E46 M3 parts thanks to my friend Steve... see where this is going???
All I need to get now are track pads for my calipers and a proper helmet....I already have the ideal car ;)

Rob, the pristine exterior of my M3 has taken abuse from the shitty Rhode Island (for that matter shitty New England) roads... so I'm not too worried about the abuse....to me out of all my cars it seems proper to start really having fun with my ///M and the best place to do this, thanks to Botond, is on the track... ;) :thumbsup

Where my ///M has been concerned, I have been dragging my butt - I know. Something always seem to get in the way regarding my ///M but she's safely tucked away in the garage and I have not put any miles on her in the past year... so keeping the miles down which is also nice.

I was going thru my project thread this morning and noticed this question posted by Vas...
Vas, after going to Calabogie with Botond this summer my views on tracking my car have changed. Botond made some arrangements with some of his friends up there and got me on the track for 17 blissful laps... I now understand why you track rats enjoy doing this! I can only say I have missed out all these years!!

Well you're right Hieu but only body panel I will be changing out other than the bootlid (which I sourced an OEM CSL part for) will be the carbon fiber roof panel which you have been wanting me to do for quite some time...
Unless life get's in the way or something, I should be looking to do this sometime next year just so you can stop giving me shit about it... I know I have been dragging my ass for a very long time on this but it happens when you get a 997.1tt (paid cash for it) and then end up sourcing two Audi S4 Avants (paid cash for them too)....
I will eventually get around to doing more for my M3 but as I have said, compared to when I got my M3 (which was completely stock by the way) it has come a long way....you can say anything you want and yes I know that you're bashing on me ;)
Just so you know it does not mean you have to change out all major body panels to effect a big change in your car. You should look through my thread to understand all the changes I am talking about. It's about the "whole package" my friend... not just the exterior cosmetics... compared to stock yes, my M3 has gone thru lots of changes to where it is today. You're more than welcome to see all the changes I have done to my car...:thumbsup

Yes...where is this roof? Been like 3 years lol I think. Because I'm pretty sure I've had my roof for at least that long.
Well I just take issue with the fact that you said it's "nothing" like it was before. If you look at it, you can tell it's an M3 lol So it's still the same, just different looking. It's not like you started with an M3 and somehow it turned into a 997 :mwah :rofl
But seriously. Roof install. Or...actually, you can buy these M3 parts that I have for sale from a friend that is parting out shit that he never installed on his car. I feel like you might be interested in some of his parts. Like OE CSL diffuser? or OE CSL sway bars?

Because I'm pretty sure I've had my roof for at least that long.
Have you seen the amount of cars he has? Have you seen how much he's been modding them???? Give him a break, man! The roof is sitting between his spare bedroom and bathroom -- do you need proof? If so I'll snap a pic the next time I've over at his place! :rofl

It's the same color and model. Has the same engine. Other than that, that's pretty much it for visuals. The amount of things changed on this car is mind blowing. The interior is completely different; steering wheel, dash, seats, carpet, parcel shelf; everything has been changed. OE CSL panels everywhere inside. On the outside, CSL bootlid, carbon fiber diffuser, sexier exhaust tips, tinted tails, smoked front corners, BBS CH wheels with Brembo BBK. It's lowered. For the engine bay, EVERYTHING is polished. Huge GruppeM kevlar intake. These things immediately draw the eye. A stock M3 engine bay looks nowhere near as good.
Our ZHP sedans may have looked the same to a normal person, but they were polar opposites. Would you say they were the same? I would hope not.
The way I feel right now is how I feel when people say the earth is flat. LOL

And who the fuck are you? The God of mods over here?

I don't get it... I don't even know how to 'even'.
Well I guess I'll apologize for that one, but it was supposed to be a joke towards him. Because he knows that I know that he has a roof since I helped him get it :p
I think you guys are getting sidetracked? I keep telling you I'm just saying that's what I feel about the two pictures. You guys keep referring to all the other mods he's done to his car. You can't see his other mods in the picture at all. You can't even use it as proof, how are you going to show me his interior is different based on that picture alone? Or his engine?
I know the mods he's done. But strictly from that picture alone, it's very similar lol I can list the things he hasn't done anything, which make up like 80% of his car's exterior. Roof, front fenders, rear fenders, doors, mirrors, side skirts, rear bumper, front bumper. Hood, well you can't see it in the picture. So I can't point it out. I do remember him buying a new hood; however, I don't remember if he ever put it on.
...Our ZHP sedans may have looked the same to a normal person, but they were polar opposites...
So you agree then, looks the same/similar outside just like in the picture no?
Like I said, I agree that his car is very different as a package. Just on that picture I disagree that it looks nothing like his current car. Honestly, I don't know how two pictures that look 80% the same is considered nothing alike. If he posted a picture of his interiors otoh, now that's what I call nothing like the original.
The way I feel right now is how I feel when people say the earth is flat. LOL
I can't even...
I honestly feel the same right now...
And who the fuck are you? The God of mods over here?

So today I disconnected my BMW Aux connection kit and installed a bluetooth adapter to allow bluetooth audio streaming capability to my M3 for under $20!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/d7a80f16b72059c7c6131e458ecb6fdb.jpg
This is the kit I purchased.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/5f2c48aab9dafed3b44d75fb8dc534dc.jpg
Here it is as I was installing it today.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190525/6376073ddc17d8154606f52ab0f76454.jpg
I tapped power and ground connections from the bluetooth module into the cigarette lighter wiring.
This was a fairly simple install and I took my time doing this. It took me about an hour to do but it can easily be done in half the time. Stereo switched in Aux mode and pairing to the connected bluetooth module was easy and I was streaming from my iPhone X into my M3 stereo wirelessly.
I now have bluetooth streaming in all my cars [emoji41]
By the way, this can be done with any BMW with an aux connection...

You will have to ask Gary (Wolfn8tr) since he's located in Las Vegas where temps are high in the summer months. He has been sporting this hood for quite some time on is M3 now and could tell you more about this than I can.

Well I have the Vorsteiner one without the E92 vents. It's not that much of a difference really. But it does cool down a bit faster when the car is off. The only thing I hate about vents is that I have to tape them in the rain. Because all the water runs towards the back of the headlight which I have not waterproofed yet (cause lazy). I tried not taping it once. Headlight turned off :rofl

The hood in my opinion has helped quite a bit with the heat. My M3 has survived three really Hot summers out here and NO SMG issues to date and I have 133k on my car. When you daily drive a SMG M3 in 120 heat you are constantly monitoring coolant temps. My car stays under 208 even on those Hot days. While sitting at stop lights you can see the heat pouring out of those two smaller vents. I did modify the panel underneath to allow more air flow and I do not have any issues when it rains. Plus you can see some engine bling. [emoji41]

I thought about it, but it would then get in the way of the heat dissipation. There's not much room anyways. The water hits the washer reservoir or intake and jumps the tiny gap and into the back of the headlights. But I see that these hoods have closed vents except for the that E92 one so there should be no problem whatsoever with water.

Ah I see. that's pretty cool. That was what I tried to do. But on the drivers side, half the water dumps into my alternator. Also, it wouldn't stay up without drilling into my hood. I always wanted to make a rain cover that goes over the top of the hood. But I would have to tape that down too so I never got around to it.

After two years, it is like I got a new car. Yes, it will be nice to finally give my M3 much needed love while I work on my Audi. :)

fredo, the weather has been awesome and I have been daily driving my Porsche but right now I'm seriously itching to start daily driving my M3 for a bit. In the mean time doing so will allow me time to disassemble the front of my Audi and drain my cooling system so that I can remove interference in front of the bad alternator so that I can remove it... I would have started doing this over the past weekend but I had close friends from out of town come up so I spent the entire weekend catching up with them instead. Family comes first. I will have the next weekend to start working on my Audi once I have my M3 set up for driving again... car has been ready...

I can only go at the pace that personnel at DMV will operate at... in this case the people working there all had their hands full. I have never seen so many people crowded into this place like I did today. It was a Friday, end of the month, and weekend holiday so everyone just poured into the DMV to get their driver's license, car/truck registration all at the same time... so things progressed slowly but I managed to get everything finished and got to enjoy taking my M3 out for a nice cruise this evening without the worry of getting caught illegally driving the car... yes, it has been very tempting to do this while the M3 was in storage but I resisted...

New wipers from FCP Euro installed on the M3 today. Car is at 177k now and I'm enjoying the whip. Botond came up and hooked his computer up to my car and we checked everything. Then I let him drive my car after I grabbed some much needed coffee and enjoyed the ride and coffee while letting him have some fun :) All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable day. It is nice knowing I won't need to buy new wipers anymore since my new FCP Euro supplied wipers come with their lifetime warranty. :thumbsup

Sergy, my M3 has the BMW Performance carbon fiber strut bar on it. I purchased this strut bar brand new and it has been on my M3 ever since. Arguably the best looking strut bar for the E46 platform in my opinion. I liked this strut bar so much that I also got it for my ZHP when I owned it and never had issues. Botond ended up getting one for himself but unfortunately his broke in half and he can chime in on his experience using this carbon fiber strut bar. I have never seen one of these break until his broke so that is why I have a "spare" BMW Performance carbon fiber strut bar at my garage just in case the one on my M3 ever breaks but as I have said, everything has a price if someone is willing to pay to have this part…
wholeheartedly a joke Charlie haha, I know what the market is for these currently. And unfortunately, for those interested in buying one, that price continues to rise.
You're right Jacob. Finding these strut bars in decent shape will be harder and harder to find as time goes by... Then getting an owner of one of these strut bars to let theirs go will drive up the cost of obtaining one of these beautiful BMW parts. It is the same for OEM CSL parts such as the carbon fiber door panels or OEM CSL interior seats.... $$$$$$

Jacob, at the end of the day I know I have an OEM CSL part in my engine bay, that’s why. Regarding cost, in my M3 build, I have not looked at how much money I have thrown into my M3 over the years. If I had “bean counted” I probably would have gotten a Camry instead.
When I got my Porsche turbo, I had already decided I will not be boosting my M3 so the obvious choice then was getting an OEM CSL intake to replace the Gruppe M CAI I currently have.
As for cost vs hp, the numbers don’t add up but the sound I will get having this intake and the eye candy knowing what I have is OEM more than makes up for it as far as I am concerned.
Yes, I seriously considered going the Karbonius route, and they make a very good product but in the end I will know it’s only a rep and not the real item.
The only “CSL” part on my car that’s a rep part is my rear diffuser and I may end up replacing this part for an original item as well since everything I have on my M3 that’s a CSL part is OEM CSL...
Oh, and I’m not paying ECS Tuning’s outrageous price for my OEM CSL intake either.... [emoji57]

The only “CSL” part on my car that’s a rep part is my rear diffuser and I may end up replacing this part for an original item as well since everything I have on my M3 that’s a CSL part is OEM CSL...
Sent from my iPhone 11 Pro Max using Tapatalk Pro
Wouldn't the CF roof also also be a rep part?
Man that reminds me, i have a bunch of OEM CSL parts that I gotta sell.
Oh and getting this part as well....
Don't people usually get both of those? When they get the CSL intake?

It’s okay Gary [emoji1360]
I just mentioned that because in the past I have passed on two sets of wheels to two different people, a brand new never used SOS autodim rear view mirror, a pair of OEM M3 side mirrors and a bunch of other items where I have either given these items away or have sold them at considerable savings to my friends.
I have never price gouged anyone from this forum and have helped out as well as been helped out by a few members here. The BMW Performance carbon fiber strut bar I had listed in the classifieds section of this forum was listed out of sarcasm because of the price a few so-called enthusiasts were selling theirs at. The price I listed was crazy but then that’s because I’m really not interested in selling my spare set.
Yes, sometimes my mods are unexpected and are at Stuart’s high quality level.... by the way, I will always have immense respect for Stuart because his mods are at a whole nother level from mine. EPIC level in my opinion but it is enthusiasts just like Stuart (and some who are here I will never put at Stuart’s level because of their “ethics”) why I mod and build up my cars.
I have three cars to take care of, maintain and then mod (put on cheap “Korean” rep parts) so I “float” around between the three as you know Gary, hence my project threads. I mod to my liking and have had good responses from the majority of people I know here on this forum and in my area so for those who choose to nit-pick or hate on what I do in my project threads, it is their prerogative to do so but their opinions are just that to me, just opinions and I won’t respond to them nor will justify why I am doing what I have been doing to any of my cars if they choose to be jerks while making their comments in my project threads.
Only the people who I choose to bring into my inner circle of friends (the ones I keep in contact thru texting and/or messaging) are the ones who’s opinions matter to me and I will continue to listen to what they all have to say.
Anyway... getting back to your joking around... feel free to do so. It’s all good besides I know how to reach you if I want to talk to you [emoji12]

I got the airbag recall service, 4-wheel alignment and battery replacement completed and when I get to the dealer to pick my car up, the service advisor told me that there were several people taking pictures of my M3 throughout the day. I get told this by my service advisor every time I take my M3 in for any type of service at this dealership.

Sergy, this is something I should have done a long time ago but never got around to doing it. All I have to do is retrofit the motors and add the two wires into my connector plug (pins 1 and 2) and I should be all set. I have seat memory and have already done the rewiring to move my door mirror switch onto my CSL center console...
Once the parts arrive from "China" I will pull the motors from them and retrofit them into my OE mirror housings. :)
Edit: Looks like this weekend I will be retrofitting the autofold side mirror motors into my OE side mirror housings on my M3[emoji41][emoji41]

With the auto-fold motor installed and reassembled you can now see the blue and white wire coming out of the mirror assembly.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200308/0b0589395fd92251d1599072727599fa.jpg
Attaching the wires into the plug harness was easy because my kit came prewired.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200308/08816ab8f54af81d5beb80929380ac10.jpg
All I had to do was swap the auto-fold motor into my M3 side mirror housing, run the wires and plug them into my connector plug (pins 1 and 2). [emoji41]
If I can post a video I will[emoji57]

Now that I have completed retrofitting autofold into my M3 side mirrors, I’m contemplating on whether or not I want to/should retrofit autodimming to my side mirrors like Shawn has on his M3 sedan[emoji57]

Very tempted and I know what wires to run thanks to Shawn sharing information I need to get this retrofit done.
It is ALWAYS GOOD PRACTICE to recognize ANYONE who help you to get your mods done on your car. Remember this folks.
With that said, my thanks to Mirza for his auto-fold DIY guide. If I did not see this I would not have tried doing this. His guide explained everything that I needed to do to get the autofold feature to work on my M3. [emoji1360]
