I got confirmation tonight from Challenge, the people making my 1x1 carbon fiber CSL roof panel for my ///M. The panel has been produced and is now ready for shipment. The company is getting all the necessary materials and boxes to ensure my roof panel is properly packaged for shipment. My new roof panel will be in my hands soon Hieu!!! :p

One for the ///M and the other for my house ;)

so which wall are you putting it on? we should scout it out now. take some pictures of possible walls for us to choose lol

for the oil dip stick? does it get blistering hot when you check it after a drive?

I don't think the Aluminum gets that hot.
Besides, you should check your oil when the engine's cold, anyway.

my aluminum adjustment knobs on my ASTs get hot and those are located even farther than the dip stick lol besides, aluminum is a great conductor of heat, hence why it's commonly used as heatsinks.

yeah normally. but what if you wanted to check it after you've driven? like say oil light came on for no reason after you've already driven quite a way. i wonder if it's freezing, would it be freezing cold too? lol seriously though, i'm actually curious. since metal shift knobs act in a similar fashion

If that's the case Hieu, that's what a "rag" is used for. You can still easily check your oil after driving using a rag if the dipstick handle is too hot to handle....it's no big deal :) Then you use another rag to wipe the business end and then recheck the level... simple as that. It's not a big deal if you ask me...:)

i like how you guys answer my questions with solutions to issues, but not my actual question lol yes i know you can do that, i'm not stupid. i know it's not really an issue. am i wording the question wrong?

it's like i ask you how do your tires feel? then you tell me you bought roadside warranty, you're covered...

anyhow moving on. so when are you planning to install that UUC SSK? or did you do that already?

you should get the RE oil filter cap for your M3. I think it will go will with your dip stick if you don't already have it. i tried going back a few pages to look at your engine bay but i didn't see it.

Dude.... no you're not stupid. I didn't imply this so I hope you realize I'm just responding to your question.....perhaps you had worded it incorrectly???

Regarding the billet aluminum dipstick, yes it will be hot (and I know you know that) after driving and it's not a big deal to use a glove or rag if you have to pull it to check your oil level (again, I know you know this)....it's no big deal...:scratchinghead

so when are you planning to install that UUC SSK? or did you do that already?

I plan to have the SSK installed sometime this winter. I have lots of other mods lined up right now so this is not a priority for me at the moment. I will have this installed by next season however....

anyways, on the oil filter cap. you just send rogue an email. i believe that site will always say out of stock. but if you send Rogue engineering an email, they can make it happen for you.

John, I felt the same way when I mounted this....as for what I used? I used a product from 3M...

It's a rubbing compound. Probably one of the best product I have ever used to date. Once I got an awesome shine on my carbon fiber surface, I used Rejex to seal the surface of the carbon fiber.....

Looks good Charlie! You can use the ///M to plow some snow in the winter with that bad boy.

Thanks Gary! :thumbsup

Yeah the ///M is low enough that I can easily move some snow but it will be hibernating during winter months so the lip will remain in great shape :)

All this after only one pass...this roof is going to look awesome when it's installed :thumbsup As for protection... I will be using XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film just like Hieu did for his roof panel. This seems to be the best solution for these roof panels :thumbsup

Stain & Chemical Resistance

"How does XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film resist staining?"

The clear coat on XPEL ULTIMATE has a very low surface energy, which makes it extremely difficult for organic compounds to stick to the film. Insects, bird droppings and environmental contaminants (which would normally cause yellowing) such as road oils, exhaust smoke and pollution can be removed during regular washing. An example of a similar technology would be Teflon, where a Teflon pan is easy to clean because nothing will stick to it.

definitely would recommend for the whole car if you want (i want to, but i only repainted the front half of my car so far lol). my entire front end is covered with it, except for the mirrors. it's too round, and i didn't want to cover it in multiple pieces and having a ton of lines.

No sport button mod?

Sport Button mod N/A on ///M Tony. The Sport Button that's already there has a real function and I won't mess with this button as a result. The Sprint Booster I added is in addition to the Sport Button that's already there.

Sport Button changes between two different engine mapping whereas Sprint Booster changes how sensitive the throttle inputs (gas pedal) are. Having both allows for a more lively ///M driving experience....man is it a lot more fun to drive now! :thumbsup

Edit: Tony.... it just hit me what you were trying to say here...basically incorporate another button just like we incorporated the Sport button for our ZHPs... have full OEM-like looks in the car. I'm sure you were eluding to this....not do the "Sport button" mod on the actual Sport button in my car.... if this is the case then yes, this can be a possibility but after doing two sport button mods....I think I'll call it good....I will need to order a whole bunch of stuff including lit magnifying glass....these old eyes can't focus as good as they used to....:)

Hieu, that's because it won't be mounted on any wall... :rofl You're killing me with that comment....:facepalm I thought about getting an OEM CSL diffuser but realistically, it woldn't take too much effort for some douchebag to come up to my ///M or any for that matter and just steal it from the car.....for the amount of money one of those commands, it's just not worth it to me...

The Tekarbon CSL diffuser looks just as good and costs $200.....I'm okay with that. :)

I always keep a set as spares based on the many jerks out there who like to damage these off of our cars.....I can check with a friend of mine to see if he has a set to sell. I have a friend who parts out E46 ///Ms as part of his family business.....let me know if you're interested (PM me) :thumbsup

Rob, I'm sure you've seen cars that have too much carbon fiber on them…as you know there's a fine balance when modding a car. As much as I love carbon fiber on my car, I'm just looking for that fine balance for the ///M that will make it look perfect :thumbsup

Last year I sourced an Intravee II for the ///M and installed it. Since I have so much lined up for the ZHP I figured I would come back and do a little something for the ///M as well. :)

From what I have read, the Intravee II is considered to be one of the best iPod interfaces out there so I went ahead and purchased an iPod classic 80GB today...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=d2tUWbPcPdQ

There is more I need to do for this setup like install the Alpine PXA-H100 DSP that I still have sitting in my closet….need to get off my butt and get this done!

I tranferred the Sirius module from the ZHP because the BM53 radio in it was too old for the Sirius module to be recognized. After hooking everything up, I reconnected the battery to test the connection and my radio immediately recognized the Sirius module (FTMFW!!)

This was my opportunity to change everything out so out went my current setup (windshield mount) and existing satellite antenna for one with the proper Farka connection :)

I have been doing some research lately and for those with coupes/verts they will need to do this to have functioning rear fogs :thumbsup

-> All E46 produced between 1998 to 2006 are pre-configured to accept rear fog lamps however not necessarily pre-wired (coupe/verts). What exists are bulb sockets, in-dash indicators, PIN 49 slot @ LCM, bulb holder circuits preconfigured to ground and power for the rear fog bulb.

To sum things up what is needed are the following:

1. The LKM faceplate w/ rear fog lamp on/off button
2. The power wire lead from PIN 49 on the original LCM body to the trunk lid bulb holder
3. The bulbs and possibly dremeling the cover off the bulb sockets.

This DIY should cost around $30 (required bulbs, 20 gauge wiring, and the euro rear fog LKM face plate). This DIY should take less than 2 hrs to complete. There you go everyone! Whoever wants to add functioning rear fogs to their rides should have no problems now :thumbsup

This is a quick write-up so when i do this I will have pics to go with the write-up. :)

I got my 80GB iPod Classic in the mail this afternoon
17186

I then proceeded to erase what was on it (poor taste in music) and update the existing s/w then sync my iPod with my MacPro library. Ended up transferring close to 5800 songs and I still have close to 50GB left. :)

17187

Installed this little guy inside my trunk and everything connected as expected with this pic

17188

You can see looking at the iPod's battery life icon that it is "plugged in" and charging so no adapter needed in this case :)
My Intravee II recognized my iPod....so far so good :thumbsup

Then I got in and proceeded with final op tests… (pictures are grainy because I didn't want to use flash)
17189

17190

The iPod tested satisfactory and I now have my entire music library at the tip of my fingers so to speak while driving my car :thumbsup

Thanks Gary, just trying to keep things in perspective since updating my ZHP's list. Between the two cars, I have put in much more time and money into rebuilding my ZHP though....

The OEM E92 LED license plate lights are just that. With the OEM CSL bootlid or any real CSL bootlid rep such as the Scorza CSL bootlid I sold Sean, you need to use the OEM E92 LED license plate lights instead of the OEM E46 M3 license plate lights. It's a fitment issue. The E92 LED license plate lights simply mount into the openings on the OEM CSL bootlid. Very simple plug and play.

I decided to mount mine similarily to where Gary mounted his with one exception. I use my cigarette lighter connection to power my iPhone when driving to keep it's charge full so I opted to keep my ash tray open whereas Gary kept his shut...

Looks Good Charlie!

Yesterday I changed my oil and forgot to plug in the TPS. The UltraGauge beeped at me upon start up and gave me 3 pending trouble codes!
