JP. Who's doing the block work? Do the CP pistons need a special coating?

If you're not familiar with US Chrome, they will bore the cylinders to whatever spec you want and coat the walls with a NikaSil equivalent for $125 a cylinder.

That's where I'm sending my Porsche block to be overbored 4mm and recoated.

As for the suspension, that shit is whack. I can't imagine why they left the 2002 set up in favor of this.

    Thanks John!

Justin, I'm having the block bored 1mm. I don't know if the pistons are coated, Carl's buddy in Chicago is who built an engine like this. We're having him send us a set of the same ones he used. I'm basically just copying Ben's setup. Once I get it installed Carl will probably have the guys from Miller make me a custom war chip... I'll probably have to take it up to LA to be dyno tuned

That sounds good. If it has been done before then no worries. Some pistons need to be coated and some don't. It depends if it gets sleeved with a steel wall. A 1 mm over bore shouldn't cause problems with cylinder strength. My concern is that the rings will mar the newly surfaced walls if the coating isn't there. Let me know how it goes!

Nice work Jp. I just picked up a S52 that's in pieces, bare block that was just honed. Except I have a lot of reading to do! At least you know what you are doing!

Loving it JP. That GC bar and the rear valence look great. :D

Wait, is your block aluminum? The M10 is iron

Nice, that era engine will be my next step. I just need to find a Z3 donor so I can get an alloy block M52 and the front suspension. When I get to that point I will build a 3.0 w/S52 cams. I will probably ref it as a 95 325i so I can use the OBD1 exhaust manifold so I can keep my cat under the trans. Then later I can find some S50 ITBs and headers.

What are you gonna do with yours, 24v E30?

Yeah. Aluminium block and head. I know the M10 is iron, but a coating could help increse power and longevity.

Maybe, but I don't know if it's worth it for this particular engine. If I was going 2.2L I can see spending the money on that but I'm not building a 200hp M10. I think I'll be lucky if I can get to 140 crank. My problem is I still need it to pass smog, which is not an easy task on the M10 when trying to make decent power
